Hi
this is my frist lomac movie. Not a big thing just a quick fast-paced editing to get familiar with all of the lomac views and movie making interfaces. Unfortunately the audio is music only, how do i record the ingame sounds within avi ? the url is: http://www.knm.org.pl/video/flyby1.avi divx 5.1.x., approx 20 mb enjoy Kris |

Link don't work...

A typo, was "knm.org.p" should be "knm.org.pl". Fixed the original post.
A btw, the server has max users limit that can download the file at the same time, and reports some weird error when that limit is reached. So if you would receive an error now, just try some time later. Its a backup link, my ftp site is down due to disk crash Thanks again for pointing this out Kris |

It's working for me, it's slow but it's working.
No longer in the 169th, and happy to be out. Mods can you please remove the 169th from my name Disclaimer: I'm not a computer whiz nor do I claim to be. I only work on 25 million dollar aircraft! 3Sqn Forums 3Sqn Hall Of Shame |

Hmm... anyone managed to get the file, or shall I look for another hosting site ?
Thanks Kris |

Nope, no problems with the host
Great movie you got there, really well syncronised with the music (nice song too) Some inventive camera angles (i loved the 'artificial pan' technique, i assume its done with the editor) Nice ending too! Keep up the good work, will be looking forward to some more stuff from you in future! |

Its working now, Download took a few minutes longer then usual/rate was slower but thats fine.
The vid itself was great! I enjoyed it alot...Great flying there as well. Thats one of the major things i love doing in LOMAC. Whenever I can, I just form up on a fellow Ai pilot..or anyone i can find in a multiplayer game. The angles were cool, Very different and original! I've definitely havnt seen or imagined people using views like THOSE before
| AMD 3500 | 6800GT 256MB | 2 GIGs RAM | 232 GB HD |
|

quote: Glad you liked the movie. As for 'artificial pan' as you call this, yes its done in the editor. It's an effect called usual 'pan & zoom' or something similar. People tend to use this often when making ie. a slide show movie... zooming and/or panning across the still picture. I started to use this when making Il-2/Forgoten Battles/Pacific Fighters movies. I started the use this when making il-2 movie mostyle becasue all views in il2 are static (except for flyby) and even that those view interface is **** comparing to lock-on (less posibilities, no free look camera etc.). If you want to look more about that take a look ty my work-in-progress render from my il2 project here and every single scene there is touched by this. Otherwise it all would be static and lifeless: http://www.knm.org.pl/video/318.avi (35mb) Then pan & zoom stuff adds those slight touches in camera movements that look film-like and real. All the 'centered on subject' views, even in lomac are very unnatural and otherwise static. Even fly-by view got this in my '318' movie - I positioned the camera little off from the center line or another example you have the plane flying low above the ground seen from a side (f2) and you use pan & zoom to emulate the plane moving forward across the scene and camera still following it. The 'flyby' movie has them only in the beggining, to be honets i got lazy when making this and wanted to finish asap to show my friend how we have flown together. Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it. I think I make some movie as me and my friend get better in aerobatics and have some nice things to show Thanks again Kris |

Regarding audio, you have to experiment with your line in settings for your sound. There should be a way to record whatever the graphics card plays. In my particular case, I check the master volume and leave all others unchecked (see advanced properties and volume settings for sound). The audio should then record as a part of the avi. Problem is that it never syncs. I prefer to run the track, pause and do an alt-tab switch and start sound recorder, then continue the track (only a minute can be done this way.) This will give you a wav file of the sound, which you can save and edit with sound recorder, audacity, or goldwave. The effect will then have to be mixed with the track unless you have a fancy movie editor.

Actually I though of 'double-redering' to get the audio.
The first avi tool render would be the best graphic quality settings and good losseles codec to get the best quality image the one can get. We do not care about 2gb limit, as we can fix it with virtualdub for example The second render of the tr5ack would be the worst visual quality and the best compression codec we can get. The point is to get the file below 2gb size and have the audio track withing the avi. Now to get the original sountrack we must comine video from first render with audio from second render. Haven't tried this but wondering is the above makes sense ? |

I tried that. It works, but is not the best method imho as you have little control over what portion of the track actually gets sound and you can get silence in the wrong places. Better to record the sound seperately. It's faster better, and just as free since sound recorder is a part of the accessory tools for windows. Either method, the audio is combined in the movie editor.
