If either Ubi or the Army's personnel working on the project want to get ppl to notice this game in the wake of H3 & HL2Orange Box then they better do some serious ad-casting, like right about now, lol.
If I hadnt been looking up ROAS info on WIKI I wouldn't have even noticed this game yet.

I want this game over COD4 but I'm worried that the game will be full of glitches like the first one.

Hopefully it'll be region-free at least.

by playing a import could you be breaking the Live terms of service?

Hopefully someone from Redstrom would clarify?

I don't think so.. If they want to region-lock it they have that option. If it's region-free then it's that way on purpose.

I'm worried since this game is getting no marketing/buzz/PR. It looks like it could have potential, but if it is as polished a game as say a GRAW or RB6, then why no media attention? I think based on it not receiving any buzz or hype that it will be in the bargain bin in 4 months and not be a seller at all. Why put it out in the midst of Halo3/Orange Box/COD4. It will get lost in the shuffle, no one hardly knows about it except the Clancy rank in file on here. I don't expect much from this game. I think it should been left in the cooker longer (put in a party system, polish it more, add more maps, LIVE co-op, many gametypes integrate face mapping like RB6 Vegas), then hype it up 3-4 months before it comes out, and pick a period of time where there is a lull in the marketplace... say Summer 2008 and then sell 10x the copies, when Halo3, COD4, TF2 have lost some of their newness shine. Really a pity. I'd only consider it if it was a $20-$30 budget title.

Either they're not going to do much marketing or they're waiting for all the Halo 3 hype to die down.. Anything they do now would probably be overshadowed anyway. I'm right there with you on the budget price too - between H3 and COD4 I don't see a lot of people picking this one up. Sad Eyes

It's a shame. I'm hoping that the lack of marketing money being spent is used to fix glitches that occur. the glitchers took over the last one. No patches, nothing. I am looking forward to the caliber players on AA. HALO and COD4 will take the hacks out of the equation.

Unless some serious marketing is done here really, really soon then this is going to be sort of an *insider* -type game where only the people who are trully interested in this game are going to be it's community. Much unline GRAW/CoD4/Halo where the marketing is sooo massive that practically any and everyone who has a 360 plays it. If this game really steers towards the Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45(PC) community then I may seriously look into playing online again, seeing as how the community with that game is very mature and curtious.

My take on marketing.

Typically, the publisher, in this case Ubisoft would front the money for development to RSE, then UBI gets the majority of profit from sales, and therefore would have a marketing budget for the game.

In this case, Ubi/RSE was awarded a government contract to develop the game for the console and the development costs, plus profit where likely built into the bid that Ubi/RSE submitted.

Therefore, Ubi probably has no investment costs into the development, and little profit per sale compared to titles they pay to have developed. This means they are going to spend very little on marketing.

The marketing in this case would fall to the US Army, as they paid the development costs and the game is a recruitment tool for them.

Amongst other marketing scheme, today Marketplace now has some AATS stuff. They did good on that one. They went right up the gut so to speak. If their marketing was shoe string, which I doubt enough, they definetely saved to hit right spot, Marketplace, to get gamers turning heads about this game.

Now the question is what did or how much Ubi do to get on Marketplace?
