Continuing on with my saga, I picked up Battalion Wars 2 for my Wii last night and cancelled my Call of Duty 4 preorder. I'm trying to stay strong, but that big empty space above my TV is just staring at me.
On a brighter note, my Wii is getting some attention and I'm having a good time. I'm still holding out hope that I'll have it back before Thanksgiving and in time for release. CPT B SAYS FLY ARMY! |

I hope you get your 360 back soon. But that's nice you have the Wii for back-up too. I know that is what I would do if I got RRD.
I had my eye on BWII too. MOH: Heroes 2 looks very cool. IMO. Too bad I don't have money to buy all these games. |

It's now been over 2 weeks and I'm getting tired of checking my repair status and seeing:
Device: Xbox360 Hardware Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX Warranty Status: In Warranty Repair Status: Device Received at Service Center I have been reading up on the games I missed (Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4) and will miss (AA:TS) and thinking sad thoughts. I actually almost went and got GHIII for the Wii...until a good friend talked me down off the ledge. Reading the completely 180 degree opposite opinions of the AA demo has me going crazy, and the fact that I'm organizing launch parties for it just compounds the frustration. I needs me some 360!!! So I checked the support page again today and I'm now getting this message:
You have no registered devices. I'm thinking this is one of two things. 1. I'm completely screwed 2. Microsoft sent me a replacement and unregistered my old console. Has anyone else on here ever sent off their console and tracked it on XBox.com? I'm really hoping it's #2, but I can't seem to put #1 out of my mind. CPT B SAYS FLY ARMY! |

Probably on it's way back to you. I don't know of anyone that actually got back their same 360 repaired.

You could always call Xbox Support, and give them your case number and they will be able to tell you what's going on with it.

I called them, but the unbearable technocrap that plays over the phone while you wait led me to hang up after 10 minutes. I'm actually pretty proud of myself for hanging in that long.

the online tracking is worthless.the service center is seperate and doesnt communicate well(and/or vise versa).
the only way to get any real info is to call. mine said the same as your's online,and when i called they said it was already shipped out and due to be delivered that day....sure enough,it was. |

Well, I to am going to be "Missing Movement". My 7th Xbox has also come up with the whole "Please put this disk into a Xbox 360 console", the fan sounds all rattly as if it is loose, and it freezes. I don't know, maybe the 8th time is the charm.

That sucks 8 is insane and wrong. I'm on my first , bought it about a year ago. The fan on it is getting louder and some games freeze, bad signs... Just in case, I tried finding my receipt the other week. No luck. Which means if mine does break, I think I have to pay fifty bucks to ship it, if it gets the RRD. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed it keeps going. Most of my friends have had at least one bad one.

If you get the RRD, you don't have to pay a dime. M$ sends you a postage paid box with shipping instructions.

Well, I did the smart thing and bought an extended warranty for $20. It covers my box for two years, free shipping on the boxes and all. I keep saying that I'm going to sell this thing if it breaks again, but I just can't bring myself to it.

A word about MS's three year warranty: It only applies to the THREE RED LIGHTS issue. My box died about two months ago (it was a launch-day unit). I called MS to arrange warranty coverage but was SOL due to the fact mine was only showing ONE red light. I did have a 2-year warranty plan through the store that I bought it from so fortunately I still didn't have to pay for a replacement.
Clever of MS to put those lights on there so they can tell what type of failure has occured and thus deny coverage to all but a select group of units. Yes I did purchase another 2-year plan on the new unit. |

I saw a video on youtube.com of a kid who got the 3 rings, he starting banging on his 360 then pulled out the power plug, blew air into the back, then plugged it back in and banged it a few more times, turned it on, and no red lights. Kind of shocking that kid would do some old school Nintendo remedies on the 360 and get it to work.

Damn UPS...they left a note on my door on friday saying that they'll try back on Monday between 0700 and 1800. I think they take delivery advice from the cable company. Good thing I'm on leave...

Also, the new SN for my replacement console is showing on my XBox.com page. Since OXM confirmed that the Halo3 edition consoles all contained the new 65nm chip, I'm hoping my new one does too!
