These are the only two "Wargames" levels left I need 12 from. If anyone has done it or got close and has some advice, that would help. I am fine up until the final ambushes. Do I need to find better cover spots? This is hard!

Judging from the number of responces, I'd tend to think you're leading the pack on this topic. I've only scored a 12 on S01. Any advice you wanna offer us dogfaces on getting some 12's?
BTW, what difficulty are you on? I was on skilled on my first go around with Wargames. When I was re-doing R01 (trying to get a 10) it froze on me on skilled and pro level, I was finally able to complete it without freezing on novice. |

I wasn't trying to sound conceited or something, and definitely don't feel that way, sorry if I did. I feel like I had an advantage to passing these because in many ways they are similar to GRAW2 single player and co-op which I played the hell out of, before this game, BTW. Once I got 12 on one the others came easier as I felt more confident knowing what to do, the exception being Blue Bird 02 and Brown Bear 01. Here are some of the things that helped me get 12SP on the ones I had the most trouble with:
Blue Bird S02: After shooting engine block of truck in convoy, make sure to neutralize mounted gunners, blue and red targets first, then try to get as many targets close to Alpha until the sarge says targets in the East. As soon as he says that, take out the four targets before they have a chance to injure Alpha, do the same with thing with the four targets in the south. Try to get them all before they can fire on Alpha. While covering Alpha as they run up the hill, from near the extraction point, I messed up and nicked a team mate but ended with 12 SP anyway. Highest SP Stats: (12SP, 617HP, Silver Award, PRO) Highest HP Stats: (10SP, 850HP, Silver or Gold Award, Can't Remember difficulty) Brown Bear A01 Before level I adjusted my health stat to level 4 to be able to fully heal team. I tried to stop the transport truck early, so I could engage next targets early/from distance. After every engagement (many times during), I checked and healed all team mates. I used kind of a manual burst or feather the trigger and tried to conserve ammo and use cover fire (firing close to, but not necessarily hitting every target) during engagements. It helps to where I didn't have to reload in the heat of battle as much (leaving my team vulnerable) and could concentrate smoke/healing if needed. The cover fire using the SAW seemed to noticebly increase the accuracy/effectiveness of the team on this level. Highest SP Stats: (12SP, 657HP, Silver Award, PRO) Highest HP Stats: (10SP, 1451HP, Gold Award, Can't Remember difficulty) I'm having a hard time remembering what I did specifically on the other levels, but have recorded several results for each one. Mainly, I just took the levels slow, stuck with team, followed every verbal order as soon as they are said and used lots of grenades, smoke and medi-kits. I've tried R01/R02 too many times to count and I don't know if I'm going to be able to pass those ones though. They are seriously by far the hardest ones IMO. |

My apologies if my reply sounded sarcastic. On the contrary, I was sincerely trying to give you props on your scores. I inferred no conceit in your post whatsoever. The "dogface" remark is somewhat of a military reference (status reference to new recruits, draftees, private E-1 types, bottom of the totem pole, etc...), and was meant in the context of me (and others like me) being genuinely humble by your scores. I'm almost positive I scored my 12 on Blue Bird S01 on Skilled, so I think the 12's are gettable on Skilled difficulty. On Grey Wolf R01, they extra points might be in how you approach the area with the highway barriers. I notice the Sgt. and the rest of the fire team seem to hang way back on the far side of the road from that area. I usually end up passing him a little otherwise I can't hardly see anyone to engage. Out of the entire mission, that's the only part that I feel like the fire team lacking cohesion. Thanks for the advice you offered up on the other two missions. Much appreciated. |

The Sergeant specifically says at the beginning to use smoke when approaching each of the target areas.. I've been trying to do that to see if it gets you the extra points, but I haven't managed to complete it that way yet without the game locking up at the end. |
||||
|
Yea, I pop smoke on all the approaches too. After you gather at the farm field, if you don't pop right away it's pointless since the enemy engages your group as soon as Sarge takes one step in their direction. And then when your moving to the extraction point Sarge is practically running making it near impossible to get a smoke out in front of him.
I had lockup problems on Skilled and Pro difficulty on R01. I've run through it many times on novice and never had a freeze. |

@Long4Short: Thanks for the complements, but I'm not that good, believe me, obsessive compulsive may be a better adjective to use...
I've had it freeze on every difficulty on R01. It has always been at the extraction point. I started running out to the left as soon as the ambush hits to avoid the freeze. The closest I came to competing it is when I stay out of the walled area, maybe toss a grenade or two way up there, when Williams or Davis goes down (on back right) I toss a smoke grenade back, heal them, then hopefully make it back out to the other side again (left) and continue firing at enemies that come from the left/middle. Once, I made it all the way through with the whole team alive but had a straggler take out Davis. Usually, I lose one guy at least and only get 10SP. I usually do use smoke at many of the approaches, followed by frags also and it works good. The only problem I've had with R02 is that it doesn't move on to the last objective. However, I haven't had it happen that much. For me it is always just a matter of keeping my team alive and in good health, while attempting to stop the ambush at the end. |

I don't know if that has been asked before but is there a way you can go back later to view how much SP you already earned on a specific wargame? I would think it falls under career stats. Thanks.

@Cire_5th: The only way I know of is to start a mission and then abort it. The screen should show the all-time best SP. Doing this may count as a loss though, if that matters to you...
|

Yea, I think that's the only way (start then abort). I'd also like to know my SP scores on the co-op campaign missions, but I don't think there is a way to check those.

On the second training map, the ambush at the end overwhelmed me every time, but hat tip to Doja for telling me your teammates do not have to survive to still get a 12. I did it on skilled, and one of my two moronic teammates died on me. After the convoy stops, the space between the tent and the humvee affords the best cover.
I pumped up medic and fortitude for this one, since I always got hit. Stay alive and worry about vehicular damage instead of healing the two stooges. Also I concentrated on vehicle protection while on the ridge overlooking the stalled convoy. I theorize that the final judgment is not honor based, but results based. A convoy in good health wins, but a chewed up convoy cannot, regardless of your team's health. I am still missing 2 points on Bluebird 02 and I suspect it's the same principle - that the health of the fireteam you're covering is paramount. This would mean you cannot allow them to be fired on, even if it means not running directly to the final covering position or whatnot. One big problem I have on that map is my sniping partner Dopey, who runs about as fast as my one-legged grandma. When I see the fire team coming up the hill, on my side, they are being pursued by whatever stragglers I missed or something. I think they're taking a few shots during that period, sealing my fate at a cap of 10 points. Also sometimes that one genius from the fireteam advances too close to the convoy right away and gets himself chewed up. --The last thing I want to do is hurt you. (But it's still on the list.) |

I need 6 more points each on R01, R02, to complete it skill point wise. The next one Brown Bear 1 I think, I need 2 more SP to complete the 12 SP.
For R01 I have never popped smoked on each of the target areas only where you approace the emplaced enemy manned gunners and right after that when you defend that zone from the enemy APC and tank. I still need to do the last Bluebird and I am done. |

I ran Blue Bird 02 a couple more times today on "skilled" and finally got 12 SP with a silver medal. I didn't do anything different that I'm aware of. One thing I started doing a little while ago that didn't seem to matter was start waiting for the Sergeant to say "Move move move!" instead of just going to the next waypoint when the patrols' backs are turned.
I know I took a shot during the mission, but I'm a level 4 medic and was back in good shape by the end. I also know that I wandered away from my sniper buddy for a few seconds trying to make it up the final hill in time. One of the "alpha squad" guys took a hit too, but I healed him up before the mission ended. So now I have 10 points on six of the missions and 12 on two.. I need 11 more points for another level in one of my skills, so I guess it's back to the war games. Maybe I should just suck it up and wait for an AI patch UPDATE: I just had what I think is my best death ever in Gray Wolf R02.. Right after the convoy broke down and got repaired, I was moving northward. I got caught between reloads and taken down on the road leading to the base. Sure enough around 15 seconds later, the convoy starts up again and flattens me as I'm sitting there waiting for a teammate to heal me. Nice. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MeanMF, |

Thanks to whoever figured out you don't have to do it on professional and you can lose guys. When I finally get around to running R01/02 again, (I got kind of burned out on trying) I will definitely be trying on skilled instead of pro.

I'm trying to get the achievement for zero casualties in the war games. It says I'm 75% there so that means there were 2 missions were I had a casualty. Anyone know how to tell which missions had the casualties? I'd hate to have to play all 8 games again when I only need to play 2.

[ I was in the same boat.. had to redo them all to cover two where I had casualties. Although, the effort to get that achievement pales in comparison to the effort I've put in trying to get 12's on the Wargames missions, and I'm sure others will attest to that as well. ] I did know you could score a 12 on Skilled difficulty , but I found out for myself over the weekend that not all your team members need to survive to score a twelve. I was doing the night-time grenadier mission (Black Cat G02) where you take out the SAMs. My team (and me) kept getting ding'd up when the team opened fire while I stood waiting for Sarge to give me the sign to take out the first SAM. After a few tries I figured (screw this) I'm gonna drop a couple 40mm's on the enemy troops when we open fire, then I'll hit the SAM after things are a little more in our favor. After 2 or 3 shots at enemy troops, I took out the SAM, while reloading I turned and moved to take out the 2nd SAM, and before I even turned all the way around, here's my team-mate in front of me popping 40mm in the direction of the 2nd SAM... BOOM. "Good job" says the Sarge. I'm thinking, great, dude stole my shot, there goes my chance at 12 SP. Then on the final run to the extraction, I realize we're short 1 man. Now I know I'm not getting that 12. The mission was a success, and guess what? 12 SP! Go figure. MeanMF: [ Could you elaborate on Blue Bird 02? Did the Sgt give you the "move move move!" at each waypoint or just the first? I've only heard him say it at the first. In my early attempts at this mission, I recall waiting (over 5 minutes) for him to tell me to move to the second position, which he never did. From then on, I took it upon myself to get to each next postion. The only other time he has told me to move, is on the last waypoint where he calmly says "alright, move into position". ] In general, it's kinda difficult to figure out if you're doing the right thing or if you're stepping on your d!@#, based on how the Sgt is talking to you. Sometime's he's barking "get into position" (with the same tone as when you stray too far from your team), when the position you need to get to is like five feet away. This message has been edited. Just the first one. I have no idea if this makes a difference or not though. For a long time I was just waiting for the green square to appear. Waiting for the "move" order didn't change anything the first few times I did it, but I do know that on the run that earned me 12 SP that's the way I did it. The other thing I'm now sure of is that the SP are based solely on mission objectives + skilled or higher difficulty, not performance. I completed Black Cat G02 with 80 honor points and still got 12 SP. I managed to shoot my teammates twice and nearly took myself out with the M203. One of the squad didn't make it through the mission, and I ended up with my health on orange. This message has been edited. Last edited by: MeanMF, |
