How do I gain skill points once I beat the obstacle courses and war games?
How do I gain rank? Why do I have to be the squad leader during multiplayer matches? Why do my teammates run in front of me when I'm scoped in engaging the enemy? |

You can get skill points by playing the multiplayer campaign, and I think by playing adversarial multiplayer games as well. Or play the wargames at a higher difficulty level and/or without being injured.
Rank is tied to honor points. You'll go up in rank as you earn more honor. Or if you start a clan ("unit") you'll be instantaly promoted to Sergeant Major. The official list is here: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8211091985/m/8...281038216#4281038216
You have the highest honor points on your team. If another player hits LB to "opt in" to the leader role, they'll take it instead.
AI teammates do this because they don't know any better. I tend to let them do their thing while I'm flanking so they don't accidentally move into my fire. Human teammates do this because they think they need to get every kill and don't care about teamwork and squad tactics. If you find this happening a lot, then find better people to play with. |

Mean Motha F:
I appreciate the response. But I've tried playing the multiplayer (system link only) and I get honor but no skill points. What am I doing wrong? Are skill points tied to citations? Is that what you mean? So that finishing the mission doesn't necessarily award me skill points, I have to do something skill-worthy to get the points? |

This game freezes alot.

It's like in the single player missions.. If you complete one of them on novice difficulty, you can get 6 SP. If you do it on medium, you can get 8. But if you already have the 6 from novice, you'll only get 2 more. So there's a max you can get for each mission - repeating one on the same difficulty won't get you any more points.

on the wargames f you get 1000 honor on each mission on PRO level you get 12 SP. less SP for each lower diff rating.

thanks ChauffeurDrive, that's what I was looking for. Also, I've read through the comments and pretty much agree with all your critiques.

Sorry, but this is incorrect. I completed Blue Bird S01, earning 12 skill points, on skilled difficulty with 779 honor points. I'm hoping Randy will stop by again and shed some light on the subject because I've done Grey Wolf R01 over 20 times successfully and the most skill points I've scored is 6. That was with no casualties, sticking with the team (except to take out the tank), using smoke, etc. I took me a dozen of those tries to go from a score of 5 to a score of 6. I just don't know how to do that mission any better than I have done it, yet I'm stuck at 6 skill points. Does anyone know if its possible to max your skill points without maxing the training and wargame missions? |

thats cool thats y this thread is here. I got my info from randy (or atleast what i understanded from randy) If you can get 12 from lower than pro then awsome that makes it easier for everyone!

6SP is the best I have gotten on this mission too. It is very frustrating and I have decided those will be the LAST 6SP I try to get.. Arrgh... |

WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILER (this post contains a hint for Wargames mission: Grey Wolf R01) Good news... I found a critical element and was able to score a 10 on this mission. When you grab the AT4 from the ammo crate to take out the tank head off out around the hill with the tower on it and position yourself on the road behind the tank to take the shot. There should be a blue objective indicator to sow you were to stand to take the shot. I like to toss a smoke grenade over the concrete barriers to conceal the team right before I grab the AT4 from the crate. I was always so focused on knocking the tank out quickly, I never noticed they were directing me all the way behind the tank for the shot. Plus, I always figured I needed to stay nearby the team or risk getting balled out for wandering. It's not the case here, you are supposed to separate from the team for this part of the mission, and the next directive they'll give you is to link back up with your team (right after you take out the tank). I hope this helps a few of you guys out. If anyone else has some specific tips to offer on getting a score of 12 on this or other missions, please do. |

I've always scored 10 points on every mission but GW01, where I score 6 like everyone else, no matter what I do. Weird. Although I haven’t tried Long4Short’s tip yet.
But beyond training, I'm still unsure of how to gain skill points. If each war game is worth 12 points, and each rifle range event awards 3, that's a combined 99 points. (3pts x 9 events + 6 wargames x 12pts) But there must be at least 380 skill points out there because there’s 5 skill sets that require 76 points a piece to max out. Does getting promoted offer skill points? I've played the multiplayer game, and it awards no skill points. What gives? This game's frustrating. On top of the murky skill point system, the teammates are often outright retarded, Sgt. Smith gets stuck on objects alot, the game freezes too frequently, small objects like rocks or shallow banks are too much of an impediment, characters can't strafe, and one's performance is tied to team success yet one has no influence over his teammates. The lack of variety in weapons and accessories would be a neat gimmick if there were a corresponding tradeoff, like teammates who respond to threats like real teammates. As it is, while enemies aggressively pursue me, my teammates are often guarding rocks, pointing their weapon skyward, or looking at their shoes while enemies gun them down point-blank then attack me. Plus the Sgt. gets on to me for letting my teammates get mowed down. Give me something to work with here! Let me quick-switch to a shotgun, or a grenade, or some close quarters stuff. It takes too long to switch between weapons for as stupid as the teammates are. This game's lucky there's a dearth of FPS co-ops available. |

You definitely can't max out all five skills - I think two is the most you can do. You need to choose what to specialize in. I usually keep marksmanship and medic maxed out.
This is a U.S. Army game, and other than the sniper rifles the weapons it are standard Army issue for a fire team. You can't carry an HK416 or an AK47 because the Army doesn't use them ouside of Special Forces. Switching between your weapon and grenades takes a few seconds. You need to make your weapon safe, stow it, and get out a greande. This is a refreshing change from games like R6 Vegas and COD4 where grenades magically appear in your hand on command. Where are you getting stuck in CQB? If you're letting them get that close then yeah you're in a lot of trouble. If there are a lot of enemies running at you let loose with some suppressing fire - they'll hit the dirt or run for cover. You always want to engage from at least 20 yards away, preferably much further than that. |

I took a shot at the mission on Pro last night. That was when I just happened to try out going all the way behind the tank for the shot (previously I would peek around the first vehicle that attacks that position). As I stepped up onto the road surface, there was the blue square objective indicator right in front of me (aha!). Unfortunately the game froze on me while defending the extraction zone (d'oh!). I swear I was one or two enemies away from completion. So, I ran it again on skilled. Same deal, it froze at the end. Third time (on novice) was the charm (with a score of like 559 honor, and 10 skill). Here is what I gather regarding skill points and training.. I went to all the missions, started and exited right away to see what my current standing best scores are (I'm pretty sure a got platnum on all the basic training exercises). Here are my scores: Course/Score M9 = 3 M16 = 3 M249 = 7 M24 = 3 M67 = 3 M203 = 3 M136AT4 = 3 Obstacle Course = 7 MOUT = 7 All totaled it equals 39 points. If there are 12 points for each wargame mission, (8x12)thats 96 points. If there are 10 points for each campaign mission (8x10), that's 80 points. So.. Basic Training = 39 Wargames = 96 Campaign = 80 --------------- Total = 215 It has been suggested that the max skill point level is 216, which leaves 1 point unaccounted for in my analysis (maybe the MOUT max is 8 or something, I dunno). 216 may very well be the max, but I would hope that there is more than one way to achieve it. Like maybe you can accumulate skill points through online play, so that maxing training, wargames and campaign is not the only way to achieve the 216. Anyone else wanna share their scores? |

I have heard this too but I haven't confirmed it. I did DL the MOUT map, but I didn't check my stats before and after so I don't know for sure. Logically, it doesn't seem right that the act of DLing an exclusive map would net you the most skill points that you can earn through a single act.
Based on my current stats, 15 points for the DL sounds even less plausable. I've got 168 total points, 39 from training, 80 from wargames. If 15 of my points are from the DL, that leaves only 34 points earned from the campaign missions. I've done all eight campaign missions, meaning I've earned an average of 4.25 points per mission. I've been through the campaign missions a number of times and have managed to finish all of them with all team-members in tact at least once, so I'd like to think that carried a better average than 4.25, but hey, I thought I was doing the R01 mission as best I could and then went and proved myself wrong, so what do I know, right? |
