1) How do you get skill points? I am a 1SG and I get about 150-(400?) honor points per game but I randomly get skill points and when I check if I get any it is around 6 but I don't know what I am doing to get the skill points. It is so haphazard the way I receive skill points I don't think it has a lot to do with honor points. So does anyone know how it works?
2) What is the max number of skill points?
3) Are you able to become professional in all 5 skills?

[EDIT]: Off Topic If the achievement says 4+ players does that mean 4+ human players or 4+ human players and AI? It was said earlier that you could get the achievements on single player offline.

It would be great to get an official answer from a team member so I know that is for real.
Thanks

Copied & pasted for your convenience.

quote:

Ok guys, The point system on AA is pretty easy once you have figured out how it works. There are a few diffrent ways you can promote your character, and a few diff ways you can upgrade your stats I hope that this will be enough information so that you can properly do both to the best of your gameplay.

Though all of these duties give you honor the actual amount differs each time. Being that this gameplay is designed around teamwork the more teamwork you do the more honor you will eventually get. On your screen while playing in any game mode you will see near your ammo count a star with a number inside. This number goes up and down from max of 3 to min of nothing. The number represented is the number of men near you in your team. Each team consists of 4 players. You need to stay with your team at all times and listen to your fire team leader. Your fireteam leader will have either 1 or 2 stars above his head.

Each fire team is designated by a letter "A", "B", "C", or "D". Each team must work as a unit to perform their duties and fulfill their tasks given to them either by the game or the 2 star Fire Team leader.

Fire Team Leaders
Being as I have already stated, The fireteam leader is your #1 in command of your 4 man unit. He is your man that you have to stay with. On the game this position is normally AUTOMATICALLY given to the highest ranked person in your team. To make a proper running machine each squad MUST obey and protect their fire team leader.

2 Star Fire Team Leader The 2 star fireteam leader is the leader of your entire unit which can concist of anywhere from 1 fireteam to 4 fireteams with up to 4 players per fireteam. The 2 star Leader is THE ONLY ONE capable of dropping air strikes so YOU MUST protect him because he is the only one who can take anyoen out, anywhere on the map at anytime. He also has the ability to watch (not control) the UAV to watch for enemies whether trying to see if they are closing in or just where to go to find the next good firefight.

The 2 star is also able to give you ammo if you should run out.

1 Star Fireteam Leader The one star fire team leader is a lower rank on the game than the 2 star. The 1 star however is able to get his own team of up to 4 players. You are able to have up to 3 1 star leaders in a game. The 1 star leader is able to also watch the UAV and your team is also able to reload off of the Fire Team Leader.

Communication Between FTL's This is propably one of the most important aspects of the new America's Army: True Soldiers game. It was added in this game and I think it is completely awsome!

Communication between players is of utmost key towards success on AA. Being that it is so driven towards team work and working making it so that up to 16 players must work as 1. you will nearly be sure to fail if you do not communicate. Each player in a team is able to communicate freely with each other by just speaking in the headset. HOWEVER if you are trying to contact another fireteam that is further than regular speaking distance from each other, there is only oen way to do it. The Fireteam leader is capable of speaking with each of the other fireteam leaders to make sure that each FT is where they should be at all times for greatest success in gameplay. The fireteam leader must press and hold down the "X" button and this will toggle over to the other fireteam leaders. However, If a fire team leader is shot and dies, but his team is still alive, his team now has ZERO communication with the other teams until they rejoin with the other team and can only communicate if within normal voice distance from each other.

HONOR
Honor is teh basis of the game. to do most anything in the game you must have enough honor. There are several ways to gain honor and simply winning a level does not guarantee that you will get any. You must do "honorable" actions in the line of duty. As you get honor within your gameplay you character will rank up. I will admit that I do not know how much honor you need for each rank; HOWEVER I do know what tasks you should be doing to get honor. It is quite easy.

Healing: When a teammate goes down near you you will see an orange and red flashing circle. It means that one of your soldiers has been shot and is laying on teh grown injured unable to fight. It is your duty as a United States Army soldier to heal your teammate and get them back fighting in the game. When you walk up the your downed soldier It would be a good thing to scan the area before healing him to make sure that he is not being "guarded" (make sure that the person who downed him is not about to down you). By clearing the area and killing the character who downed your team mate you will get honor. Once the area is clear you then press "Y" when standing or crouching above teh downed soldier.
The ammount of honor you get ranges from about 15 to around 75 depending on how many members of your team are near you. The more members of your team near you teh more honor you get. Also when you shoot the player who shot and incapacitated your soldier you also are able to get honor, normally I get around 35 honor for that but once again it depend on how many of your team are around you when it happens. This is shown once again by the star with a number on it.

Killing enemy when he has your team pinned down I like to call this "Rambo" or jsut simply "freeing up your team". As you play the game you will notice that it is not hard to get yourself into a perdicament. If you should find one of your team mates pinned down by enemy fire it is an easy way to get honor by simply killing the gunner that is keeping your team from lifting their head above that rock. By killing the enemy in this situation will give you around 30 honor.

Completing missions at the end of each successful mission (as long as you are still alive in multiplayer) you are given an ammount of honor. thsi varies with the mission and also difficulty played.

I may have missed a few ways to get honor, DOnt worry I will update!

Skill Points
Now this is a topic I have heard non stop talk about. "How do I get skill points?" "How do I use them?" "How many can I get?" Well now your questions are answered!

The "SKILL POINT" is the way that your character is able to upgrade himself. You should do this by going to Soldier Development in the "edit character" screen and you will find yourself with 4 bars and (hopefully) a bit of Skill Points to distribute. Each skill is told on the right hand screen of what it does at each level and how it should help you. There is NO "right" way of distributing them. YOU should distribute them to fit your gameplay to best suit yourself. Each person has a diffrent distribution.

How do you get Skill Points? To achieve skill points you must pass missions throughout the game. Once you have gotten the max ammount of SPfor a mission you will never get anymore from that mission again. This keeps you from going over your designated ammount, which we will cover in a sec.

The easiest ways to gain SP in single player are to play the "Basic Training" missions as well as the " War Games". To get the max ammount of Sp in the Basic training you must complete each mission adn recieve the PLATINUM award for each mission. This will guarantee you the max for each BAsic Training mission. For the War Games, It does not matter what level you beat the wargames in, as long as you finish with the GOLD achievment or better. This will guarantee you 10 points per mission.

After you have beaten all of the missions in single player and recieved the max ammount of points, you are ready for online multiplayer. Find (or host) a room playing the campaign missions. Put it on map 01 nd change it over to custom, Pro-Difficulty. Once you have created a custom Campaign on PRO difficulty you must get and hold atleast 4 players in the room with you. Defeat each campain level without dieing and you will gain 10 points for each level.

Another easy way to gain points if by downloading the MOUT mappack at the begining screen of the game. This will give you 15 SP.

Playing the encounter games and a few other multiplayer squad matches will also give you SP.

Once you have reached 218 points you are now maxed out and will recieve no more points. Be sure to distribute them accordingly to your game play. This could be life or death for you in a game so try to make it better than the guy shooting at you .

Upgrading Weapons
As you can see within the first milisecond when you start the game, you are given a weapon. well this should be true being that it is a 1st person shooter game. Well, each weapon you are given weather it be the sniper rifle, M16, M16 w/ 203 grenade launcher, SAW, or M4 Leader gun is able to have an upgrade. This will tell you what each upgrade does and where to get them.

Where to upgrade You can upgrade (equip) your weapons after you have been given them in the "edit character" screen. Once in there go to "weapons", the weapon you want to upgrade, and then "Default" this will give you a choice between 2 guns. Your standard, and your upgraded. However if you have not unlocked the upgraded gun you cannot use it.

M16 The M16 is your weapon of choice when starting out on the game. You are equipt with a standard iron sight which some people like somepeople hate. For those of you who hate the iron sight, your in luck! You have the ability to be given the ACOG 4x zoom scope. By completing the 1st 2 levels in the war games. The M16 with Acog is an eccellent gun with either a 3 burst fire or a single shot mode that is able to zoom in slightly and gives an accurate shot.

M16 w/ 203 The M16 w/ 203, or 203 as i will simply call it is the grenadiers dream. It is a killing grenade launching machine. Very useful when going up against a group of enemies or more importantly, a technical truck with 50 cal machine gun. To upgrade your 203 you must play and defeat the 3rd and 4th missions on the "wargames". The upgrade on the 203 is a Reflex or "red Dot" scope for better accuracy when using the M16. You upgrade and equip the same as before.

SAW The SAW is MY gun of choice. I have been using the saw gun in AA games since teh begining of time. It is fast, heavy and a "mow em down and leave hangin" kinda gun. It is excellent for suppressive fire and for taking out unarmored vehicles. When you beat the 5th and 6th maps on War games you are given a "Red Dot" scope for the top of the saw. This is crazy good because I am used to using the Iron Sight on the last AA. being able to slightly zoom in and have a pin point line of fire is lethal for the man on the other side of my SAW! you upgrade the SAW teh same way as teh others.

Sniper Rife when you 1st play with the sniper rife you are given a single shot bolt action sniper. This is teh standard issue for the Army. Its an accurate slow fire rifle. To upgrade you must beat the 7th level of wargames. This unlocks the BEAST! it is a 50caliber semi automatic sniper rifle that will drop your enemy with nearly any shot on their body. It has 2 zooms one i believ 6x zoom and another around 8x zoom. once aiming you press the right joystick button down to change zoom settings. You equip the 50cal the same as the others.

M4 The M4 fully automatic weapon is given only to fireteam leaders. There is one fireteam leader for fireteam, therefore only one M4 per fireteam. It comes issued standard with a 4x ACOG scope. you can upgrade it to a close combat scope by beating the 8th mission in War Games. This gives you once again, The "Red Dot" Reflex scope.

Each of the upgrades are useable in any game mode other than basic training once you have gotten and equiped them.

UNITs You have the ability to create and play as a UNIT. A Unit is what would be called in many Gaming Ladders as a "CLAN". To create a Unit is quite simple. go to Manage Unit in multiplayer, create unit, fill in the Unit Information sheet and press OK. once you have created a UNIT you can click on anyone's name in the game and it will give you the option to invite them to your unit. Once you have created a unit you are able to find Unit Matches.

Drop the attitude. Don't say "it took me fore ever to write that article. I'm not putting it here" It's called copy and paste. Stop trying to get people to go to your site.

Thank you MeanMF wasn't that so tiresome copying and pasteing the info here?

LOL sorry ring Frown

Well guys, I have updated my article about this game. I have fixed the innaccuracies in teh Skill Points, added a small bit to getting honor and how respect tokens work.

If you guys have anything else that may need to be cleared up in this article please let me know so that I can add/change/remove anything. I have had it read over by Randy and he has told me what to fix so im pretty sure it is as close to 100% accurate as it can be! and since the bad version is posted above me here is the fixed version.

as found on www.pro-playaz.com

Completing missions at the end of each successful mission (as long as you are still alive in multiplayer) you are given an ammount of honor. this varies with the mission and also difficulty played. Here is a sma6ll breakdown in creator RandyGBK's own writing...

Bonus honor is awarded if there were no casualties for the Squad in Co-Op missions.
The amount of honor awarded for each action and the total amount possible for any one mission is determined by the difficulty setting and if you played a leadership role. i.e. A Team Leader gets 1.25X the honor for an action over a regular/non leader and a Squad Leader (Two Stars) gets 1.50X over a regular/non leader.

Respect Tokens If a player has earned 250 or more HP in a match/mission than they will get a respect token. At 500 a 2nd Respect Token is awarded to be given out to another player, At 750 another, and so on for every 250 HP points.
Giving a Respect Token does not take from the giver, it only gives extra HP to the receiver.
By awarding a Respect Token to a player the giver gets 10 HP for participating and showing their respect.
The Host gets 1 HP bonus for every Respect Token given out for allowing the players time to show respect and for being a good host

I may have missed a few ways to get honor, DOnt worry I will update!

Just popping in to clear up any confusion and put an end to the speculation about the Rank system...

Honor Points Determine Rank

One rank system is used in both Single and Multiplayer

- Players progress through the seven base ranks outside of Unit/Clans

-- Honor Point thresholds determine Rank Advancement

--- The chart below displays the available ranks and honor point thresholds

Rank ---- Reach ---- Drop to

PV2 ------- 0 -------- 250

PFC ------ 500 ------ 2000

SPC ----- 2500 ------ 4000

CPL ----- 5000 ------ 7000

SGT ----- 8000 ----- 11000

SSG ---- 12000 ----- 17000

SFC ---- 18000 ----- 25000

MSG ---- 26000 ------ N/A

-- The Reach number is the minimum number of honor points the player must earn in order to obtain the specified rank.

-- The Drop to number sets a threshold that the player must drop back below before he can drop back to a prior rank.

--- For example, a player earns 500 honor points and becomes a PFC. If he loses 1 honor point, he does not immediately drop back down to PV2. Instead, he must lose 250 honor points to become a PV2 again.

-- The fuzziness of this boundary prevents players from teetering at the edges of ranks and constantly going up and down rank level if a dishonorable action (Friendly Fire) occurs in a mission.

Unit Commanders and Officers get new Rank names

-- The Commander of the Unit would have the Rank of Sergeant Major (SGM)

--- This becomes your official displayed rank in the game

-- The Officers will all be First Sergeants (FSG)

--- This becomes your official displayed rank in the game

-- In a Unit, the regular members display their “earned” rank.

Hope this helps everyone!

-Randy

I have recieved 12SP for completed Wargames on Skilled Diffuculty. I think it has to do with the amount of Honor you score. Patch you buddies and shoot the baddies that are shooting them and you will get more honor. Get enough honor and you will get the 12SP.

Thanks for getting this info out there. Once people learn this stuff about the game, we should have more players that want to communicate and work together and less that constantly run away from the team and don't say anything.
