Heyguys this is the review I wrote for our site. Its a direct Copy/Paste. I know i wrote one for this forum when the game 1st came out. With a bit more knowledge of how the game play is and all I have written another that is made for PP. Here it is.
Here is a true Game Review by GAMERS for - America’s Army :True Soldier. While reading the many reviews online for this game, and after playing it since the moment of it’s release I have noticed one single thing. I think I may be the first person to write a review for AA:TS who has ACTUALLY PLAYED AA:TS. America’s Army: True Soldiers, though not as good a game as America’s Army: Rise of A Soldier, is definitely one of the best in my vast list of games owned and played. The realism, which you can tell they paid a true attention to detail on with the way that the guns are fired, reloaded and overall operation of how things are done, is true to the word. In America’s Army you start off your military career as many millions of other 18 – 20 year olds have, In Boot Camp, or Basic Training as it is called in game. This is an uneasy time for you as you are away from home, you left your girl far behind and you are now realizing that you can no longer run through the fields on your Grandaddy’s farm because now YOU ARE A MAN! Or at least in the game you are. In Basic Training you learn the basics of how the guns work and how to move through the basic mechanics of game play as well as earn yourself a few Skill Points to upgrade your Marksmanship, Physical Training, Fortitude, Medic, and lastly Valor. Each skill is upgraded by moving your earned skill points up and down to create a better, stronger soldier and more personalized career than the next guy. After you finish Basic Training, to continue with the realism of the game vs. Real life, you learn how to fight and destroy the enemy during War Games. In the war game mode you are using paintball guns to fight a simulated enemy just as you would if you were a true soldier during training in the field. The blasts made from grenades and rockets are colored smoke and when an enemy (or yourself) gets hit and dies they simply sit down with their legs crossed and chill for the remainder of the mission. Now I have read a lot of reviews bashing the way that the war games were built and created but in defense of the game and creators of the game, if you were a true US Army soldier and you were in the field TRAINING do you really think that you would be allowed to use LIVE rounds to shoot at your fellow soldiers with while TRAINING? After you have completed all of your War Games you get a handy batch of new upgraded weapons and some more of those Skill points that once again put you over and above your fellow gamers when you compete on online play. Now If you are UNLIKE me and you buy games strictly for the single player gaming then with America’s Army : True Soldiers you will be VERY disappointed. As fun as the war games and Basic Training are once you finish the roughly 16 very short levels you have now completed your single player game play. It took me roughly 2 or 3 hours to finish the entire Basic Training as well as War Games. Thankfully though, I don’t care much for anything single player any how. So plug your Xbox into the world of internet gaming and let the fun begin! Online there are countless amounts of levels and game modes, really you can count how many there are I am just too lazy and there REALLY are quite a few! There is everything from Coop Campaign with up to 16 players per room to several different modes of 8vs8 squad wars. On the squad wars each 8 man squad is broken up into 2 teams of 4 men each. Each squad has it’s own ranking system. A 2 star squad leader, to 1 star fire team leaders on down through the ranks of each player as they earn them. What is extra cool for me is the way the in game communication works. I just can’t say enough good things about this. Each fire team leader has to keep constant communication with each other by walky-talky. By the press of a button the fire team leaders communicate while the members of each fire team are able to easily talk among themselves with ease. On the Coop missions, you have up to 16 player squads broken up into 4 teams of 4 men each playing 8 missions to win even more Skill points to better increase the abilities and attributes of your soldier. This game was built 100% for the online gamer. It was also built for the tactical gamer, not the simple brain fried run and gun gamer of the halo world. You need teamwork, communication, patients and true SKILL to play America’s Army. America didn’t climb to #1 in the world by killing aliens, we did it by being smarter and better than the next guy and THAT is how this game is built. If you want #1 you must EARN #1. In all for those of you who do play the single player missions and enjoy them you will be slightly disappointed but the online game play will lift your head back up. I give this game an 8 out of 10 for realism, and originality. Chauffeur Drive www.pro-playaz.com |
