So as far as mods being made and people that still play, how is RS doing?

I've been playing UO with mods quite a bit now and i have to say that I really miss old (good lol) rainbow six. The mods, as old as some of them are, really enhance the game.
It really sickens me to hear these kids constantly bragging up vegas and vegas 2 when half of them dont even know that there was a rainbow six before vegas. The fact that the game, in my opinion, has strayed from a somewhat realistic tactical shooter to just another console action game for 12 yr olds is downright depressing. The origonal members are not even there for crying out loud! The vegas games are an abomination and the one good counter-terrorism game ever made seems to be dead. End of rant.
Hopefully ubisoft could make another rainbow game that brings back the realism and the tactics of the good old days.

You're absolutely right my friend! I'm from Russia, but I was delighted by ubisoft on rainbow six Rogue Spear / UO / CO / BT ... Most of all, realism is not a rainbow back ... But I will wait and hope. Now I play in the R63: RS / AS / IW, but nobody wants to play with me on the network. People Unlearning to think of games as games in which there is no need to think! I agree! I was introduced to R6 with Rogue Spear and then follow through with Ghost recon and UO and the rest and now I just play Raven Shield. I have tried other games and even tryed to play some of Vegas but it was not the same. For now I will just stay with Raven Shield. for me so far the Series end There. A bunch players and R6 fanatics still play on Raven Shield servers almost everynight rigardless of the Punkbusters ne update no reason kicks that continue. ( We just get kicked for no reason and we just log back in), it so it seems like they are intentionally trying to just make us go away and tired us from the original Rainbow six idea. Not me, I know I will conitnue to play even if I have to play the single missions over again. After all I havent found anything else new or out there as much fun as the original R6 gameplay.

I do feel that the series sort of ended at RS/AS/IW for PC. Those games give a good blend of better graphics and old school gameplay( and a pretty good soundtrack that i wish i could find lol).
After a while of playing those i went back and downloaded a bunch of rogue spear mods, the Nato mod really adds to the gameplay. I just love the maps on RS, especially the 747. IMO counter-terror games should have more tubular work like that (assaults on Aircraft, Ships, Buses, Trains). I like the voices in RS a bit more than the other games too, they just give the game a bit more of a realistic feal (wound a terrorist or fire near a hostage and you'll get what i mean). My favorite out of the old school games by far would have to be UO for its custom missions feature, especially if you download maps from the origonal rainbow six.
Heck,IMO if nothing else ubisoft should make sort of a remastered version of RS:UO, same exact game just better graphics/physics.

When I get a chance, I am gonna try loading RS/UO up on my new PC, but I have a feeling that only R6/EW will run on it. I still want to rebuild my old PC to be able to play RS/UO/COE/BT on it.

If you really like John Sonedecker's maps, you will be pleased to know he is working on something really special.

Just brought a new PC and brought R6, RS and UO... i used to play these back in 98 - 01 on MPLAYER then ZONE. But these seem dead now and I cant see the options on Gamespy.

Is there still a way I can play RS online?

I mostly played EW back in the day.... on the zone if anyone played there?

Would love to have the option to play this online again... I dont think its ever going to happen

I thought Raven shield was okay... but was no where as good as the originals... I lost intrest after that... just didnt seem the same pace as the older games

I started playing rainbow six when Rogue Spear came out. Once I tried the demo i was sold. At the time there was no game like it. I still play Raven Shield single player. Great maps.

I played Rouge Spear, Urban Ops, Raven Shield and i can't say i prefer one against other... but yeah the 747 mission was great...=) Raven shield Alpine village mission also offers some tough tactical decisions =))

Don't get about ubi's vegas concept... it's business... imagine you can make another raven shield and earn $ 5 000 and make vegas 3 and earn $ 50 000, what would you choose?

I'm pretty sure RS, UO, and CO were made by red storm entertainment BEFORE ubisoft bought them out
