Hey all,

I recently installed Windows 7 and a friend of mine asked me to try run Rainbow 6: Raven Shield as he is in the process of modding it. The install went fine however when I try to run it I get the spinning wheel on my cursor that tells me it's loading, but after a small amount of time that goes and all I get is Ravenshield.exe in the task manager, no window opens at all.

I've tried disable visual themes and compatibility mode (all options) and still it refuses to play, anyone got any ideas? I'm running Windows 7 RC x86.

Raven Shield worked fine for me in the Windows 7 Beta, don't see why it wouldn't work in the RC.

I just performed a clean install of Windows 7 RC1 and I have the same problem. I wonder if it has to do with the version of Internet Explorer that is running. Wonder if there is any way to debug the poor thing.

I am running windows 7 rc. And it works fine, you may need to just run the .exe in windows xp compaitability mode.

I have had no problems on any version, including RTM, except for having to disable Xfire in-game chat so that the levels can load.

I've just installed it on Windows 7 and it loads fine but is quite laggy and I have a ping of 1000 in multiplayer which I never had under XP.

You know i just bought a brand new Windows 7 PC, Its a 64 bit, With a Phenom II proccessor and tried installing RVS. It installed fine but after the instal i received an error messege. I clicked on RVS, but it was running perfectly with no problems at all. Except when i tried going on multiplayer. It looks as if though the pings are so high that they dont even get listed. All you have is two blank lines..I have the two patches installed correctly, The program is already on the allowed list in my firewall, And for some reason i still have the same problem. Can't see any ping time being listed let alone playing online!! There was never any problem like this on my Windows XP PC. I would have a 31 to 47 ping.

To me it seems like RVS is not compatible on Windows 7. Because I've also tried some other games like Shadow of Chernobyl and Painkiller and they also had similar problems. They would simply instal but not run. Any suggestions? Do you guys think that there could be a rvs patch anytime soon to make it to work on Windows 7?

I remember there was an issue with Punkbuster and 64bit Operating Systems.

It would affect any game running under a 64bit OS who connected to a Server that had PB running.

PB made a 64bit client version (which is specific to each game) for a few of the titles but not Raven Shield.


I doubt there is a workaround for this yet and if there is one I have not seen it.
