I just recently built a computer using Windows Xp Professional x64 edition (64-bit Windows), and most of my games and programs seem to work as they should. Up until now, the only possible problem I've been having is finding some of my drivers, which has lead me to a more selective usage of hardware (not a bad thing, necessarily). Ravenshield installed just fine, but when I tried to get the patching program to run, it appears to load up quickly and then vanish.

Here are my system specs. I used the DxDiag method outlined in a sticky post.

I apologize for my last post,
it appears that there isn't any word wrap,
or at least not on my computer.

I'm building a simular computer. I already have RS/AS/IW loaded on a separate drive. I hope it works.

Had a friend build 64bit xp a few months back, same thing, I believe that either RvS-Ubi version of the engine or the unreal engine itself wont run in 64bit-32bit emulated.

Forget where he located info, but was never able to run it. So he built a 3200xp machine so he could still play his older games. Even the 32bit to 64bit upgrade to XP didn't work for him and even caused some other issues with onboard stuff that Asus wasn't supporting, some type of SLI driver issue I think.

think of it as a 32bit pc running the old N64 Game's - they wouldn't work too well unless runnning thru an emultator, written specifically for the platform. Perhaps once 64bit true Windows is released they or someone will write an emulator to run 32bit smoothly.

Good luck and if you get it, post back and say how.

I figured it out, and got RS running. I installed RS/AS/IW with all the maps I ever use on a different partition (seperate drive) using the Windows XP 32 Bit version. Formated the C: drive, and installed Windows XP 64 Bit, updated Windows, and drivers. BTW, I'm using an ATI 9600 Pro. Then I navigated to the following and created shortcuts on my desktop for the game:
Raven Shield - D:\Games\RavenShield\system\RavenShield.exe -norunaway
Athena Sword - D:\Games\RavenShield\system\RavenShield.exe mod=AthenaSword -norunaway
Iron Wrath - D:\Games\RavenShield\system\RavenShield.exe -mod=IronWrath -norunaway
Be sure to have your CD Keys ready again for each game. The only problem I have now is with PunkBuster. It keeps kicking me for the following error:

I'm going to post in PB for help on this.

It patches just fine, but you cant use the direct 1.6 patch, you have to patch it in increments (I believe 1.56 then 1.56 to 1.6 works fine), and I know, it doesn't make sense, but it worked for me and its bound to work for you. I discovered that when I installed XP X64, but for fair warning, Punkbuster doesn't support XP X64 yet.

UPDATE

This is what the guys at Evenbalance.com told me:
We have linked this kick to a Windows error that is not handling PB requests correctly. Here is a solution that was found:
*Note* This step will only work for a user who is running Windows XP Pro

Make sure your account is an administrator account.

go to run...
type gpedit.msc
press enter
browse to
Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Secutiry Settings ->
Local Policies-> User Rights Assignment

Find the policy named "Act as part of the operating system" and double-click it
Click the button named "Add User or Group"
In the text entry field type your user account name.
Click Okay
Click Apply

*Note* This step is available to all Windows XP users (XP Home and Pro)

go to run
type "cmd" without the quotes
press enter
be sure to have you windows xp installation cd ready
type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes
press enter

restart the computer

I have not tried this yet. I'm currently away from home using my laptop. I'll post if it worked! Thumbs Up

I have x64 and Ravenshield and I've had no major problems with install, patching 1.0 to 1.60. I'm not sure how u guys are having problems with that. The only issue I've had so far is that my in game video doesnt work and the sound that goes with the ingame video is choppy. Game runs fine though without any hitches that I've seen so far. Any ideas what my video issues would be?

well the X64 can only use 32 - 64 bit installers. nothing else will work for installing games , software etc. but the RVS uses the 16 bit installers for the main update patches, but you can install RVS and Anthena Sword with no problem. but to install anything else adfter that will not work no matter what because X64 is stuburn like that. so what i did was installed RVS in another pc amnd updated it and install all of the packs for it ie : athena sword and iron wrath. then after i got it all updated i transfered the redstorm folder all via network into my shared folder and then on the X64 built system .i removed the hole folder of redstorm out of the X64 system and replace it with the one that was in the shared folder, and tada!1 it works with no problems

There's no other work around. What CTerrian and scavenger67 did was basically the same. They used a 32 bit OS to install the game, and transferred to Windows 64.
But I'm having the same Punkbuster issues as CTerrian.
scavenger67, your not getting kicked?

No i haven't when i was using X64. but my in game sound was sloppy. with my 7.1 sur-round sound it all sound like every thing was in front of me even though they were shooting me in the back. but that when i had the augy2 zs. i havent tried it with the xfi i have now, i still have XP Pro installed. i would like to try X64 1 more time (3rd time the charm)if i try again.

Hey mapeussa, thank you for the link to stuholroyd's custom patch for 64-bit Windows XP Pro. I have been looking for a fix in the wrong place for a while (the R6 tech support forums) and had gotten nowhere. So far I haven't been kicked by Pb while using his patch, so hopefully it will stick.

Thanks to CTerrain as well. If this custom patch doesn't work out, i'm going to give your fix a try.
