I played a demo of it and it looks like the sweetest game, but I'm afraid to buy because I'm not sure if there would still be any servers up after 10 years.

I remember using mplayer to find games and mplayer isn't around anymore so not really sure if there are servers still up. Though I think people just hosted off of their computers anyways and not really any dedicated servers.

I know that Rogue Spear still has a few people playing.

That's the sequal to R6.

First, if you are actually talking about the original Rainbow Six game from Red Storm that was before the Eagle Watch expansion pack (and Rogue Spear and all its iterations), there is no existing MP gaming going on that I am aware of.

Second, if you can even freaking find that game, buy it, install it using the compatibility mode for Windows 95 (if you are an XP user) and enjoy the hell out of it.

I have it and everything else installed up through Raven Shield and still play SP on the OR6.

For the life of me I could never get the Original R6 to run on XP. Tried everything I could find to get it to work but never could. Installed Vista and thought I would see if it would run on Vista and to my amazement it installed, patched and ran without a hitch. Didn't have to do anything with compatibility. After playing for a bit I forgot how fun the first R6 was.

Try the AllSeeingEye game server program, demo it, and see how many servers are showing up.

Rogue Spear along with Urban Ops (which added mod support) seemed to be better online, especially with all the different map mods, mission type mods along with new maps. With Covert Operations and Black Thorn, there were 100 maps (not counting mods) for the Rogue Spear Series.

There are some new maps made for R6, but were a bit hard to install unless you knew your way around the folder.

I remember playing BT online. It was my first real online game.

Oh the memories. Big Grin

I can get R6 to run fine on Vista, but RS won't run at all on Vista Ultimate or Enterprise.

I play it occasionally, but there's not really anything in it that's better than in Rogue Spear, except the maps aren't the same.

Walk up next to the hostage before pressing the key.
