I've recently installed Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield on my PC after years after I last played it.

It install and everything worked fine; I installed 1.60 and the PunkBuster Client but whenever I launch it gets through the old UbiSoft video fine but when the Red Storm Entertainment logo video finishes (which runs fine as well) it stops near the end of the video where the logo is still visible and starts flickering.

The flickering also starts if I move the mouse during any of the introduction videos.

I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and try and find RavenSheild.exe under the flickering mess.

If anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

Important notes:
Intel Core Duo 6320
nVidia 8800 GT
Windows XP SP2

It might be the Core Duo which is causing the problem, but I don't know.

I tried disabling all the Anti-Aliasing options in the nVidia control panel and that just made the videos not display; no solution.

Are you also trying to skip the videos (by hitting ESC)? I did a re-install and my videos don't wont... I hear the music and see nothing. Luckily for me I hit ESC and it skips through to the menu ok.

I try to skip the movies via ESC but that doesn't work - it stops and starts flickering at the place where I tried to skip.

I just posted a new topic about this. I did not see this one even so I was looking for it before I posted. I do have the same issue and nothing I tried works.

Ok. This time I again re-installed the game and the 1.6 patch right before I ever even started the game. So I went on and started the game and it starts in windowed mode not full screen. It still does the flicker at the Red Storm logo. I close and start again. This time it gets me from, the logos to the intro and right to the main menu, but still in windowed mode. I went on to change the graphics setings and change the resolution to 1024x786 32Bit and went on to a mission. the resolution changed but still in windowed mode. I exit the game and start again. Now it is full screen, but I am back to the Red Storm flickering problem. I just don't get it. And why is it that Ubi made it so you cant use ESC to skip the logos since I believe it would fix this problem.

OldSchoolG, I just installed Raven Shield & updated to 1.6. I seem to be having the exact same problem as you, sometimes monitor flickering & sometimes opening in windowed mode. I'm wondering if you found a fix to the problem. I started a thread about this here:

Encore Software (who is distributing a fair amount of back catalog Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six Games) Recently re-released this title. Ive got a copy of it and are going to test this later on tonight

I can only go a maximum of 1280x1024 on this monitor of mind but will report back if I get the same behavior you got.

Keep in mind I have been reading the NVIDIA forums and there seems to be some good backlash about the 8800 series and some games being corrupted. Im not sure if its just isolated to this card or if others do that.

If you have the same problem that be final proof that they need a new patch. I heard that this issue is with Nvidia GeForce 8 series.

And I did not encounter the issue reported on these forums. So your best bet is to get the attention of staff on the NZONE forums hopefully a community member moderator tied to the company can pass this glitch onto the driver team responsible and get this glitch fixed.

Of course since this is Windows Vista, they are not contractually nor obligated to fix such oddities in the program since its native platform was older versions of Windows.
