Trying to run full LAN operation behind LinkSys router, using router switch to connect all 5 PCs. Had very intermittant server problems (server disconnect, lag, slow starts, etc) until I set PCs to static IP addresses and set Router to DHCP disable. Can anyone explain why this DHCP setting affected my LAN performance. All play is behind router on LAN,
Also, why must NAT be enabled in the router, and what does the ServerBehindNAT=true imply, (I put this in in hopes of solving the problems, its still there), and I tried disabling NAT on the router but that had no effect. I end up using static IP set at all computers and DHCP disabled on router and NAT enabled.
To expand on my post, I understand DHCP might (though doubtful in my static configuration) change IP addressing, but in this case the "lease" for IP address would never expire, all testing occurred within an hour or so of the router being connected and IP addresses being dished out. I suspect there's something else about the DHCP other than the assignment of addresses that causes the game problems. It's also sad that the game doesn't give clear indications of what is wrong, just starts behaving badly...
