What will make this go away about 99% is load in the mouse driver. If your useing a piece of junk with just a windows driver, do your self a favor buy a cheap optical mouse for 15 bucks and load the driver for it.

Also my latest stab with XP and Rainbow six has been a success. Run the black thorn ee in 98 compada mode and it is working fine. Next I will be trying Rouge Spear. Ahhhhh so many memorys have come back to me now.

Also there are some other problems in this tread that sounds like a mouse driver related problem.

I just sold my 6600gt that worked great with BT. I am now on a 7800gs ofcourse everything is maxed LOL

Other notes, yes rommel can be a ***** for some reason . Typically that happens with Rouge spear. It seems then and now the things that make or break a stable game here is going to be drivers. Also at the time Rouge spear came out a nvidia card was recommened and ATI was a just a gamble.

I dont think the movies are going to work

insert the BT cd / click configure black thorn and uncheck run movies.

Seems the movies dont want work causeing the runtime error.

Badboystar, I've followed your instructins in XP, but when I start the installation there is an error: "setup is unable to find installation languages in E:\SETUP.LID file. Error 105".
What can i do?

getting Pre-Raven Shield rainbow sixes to work on XP seems to rely more on luck, rather than certain settings. Tho this has always worked for me:

Disable Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering

Open Internet Explorer or Firefox, and load a webpage (any page)

Run the game in compatibility mode for Win2000

If you pick up the "Tom Clancy's Counter Terrorism Pack" it includes versions of Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear, and SOAF that have all been updated to work with Windows XP.

explore the cd for the setup.exe there and try that.

The only thing is, that's part of the problem...whether clicking from the autorun menu, or clicking directly on the setup.exe icon, nothing starts up the installation. Nothing happens. It's odd. =\ I've even done the compatibility thing already to see if that changes it, but to no avail.

If I remember well I played this game on XP long time ago and worked fine without compatibility mode but I haven't tried on Vista

i need help.. whenever i join a game, and right when the host launches, Rouge Spear crashes and gives me a "send Error" report. i never get to play a game :[ any help or suggestions on this?

oh this also happens in singleplayer mode... game crashes right before mission starts :[

i dont know if this is how this works but i would be verry grateful if someone could help me!!!!!! me and my freind are trying to hook 2 computers up to play Rainbow 6 : Rouge Spear. We would like to play it together and we cannot figure out how, we have tried goin through some LAN thingy and through the Internet but it will not show either of us ( or anyone else for that matter ) to have created a game.... we are both on a XP but her computer is a much newer model then mine...... ummm i think thats it... can any one help us im screwed on this....

Okay, here is a new problem not addressed. I am running Wn XP SP2, P4. 2.8, Gforce 6600, SB Audigy 2 sound card, 2 gigs ram. Game downloads great, starts up great, have the 2.5 update. Get into the game and I get most sounds. Dont get weapon or foot sounds. I go into the sound file and click on each one and they work fine. In the options when I raise and lower the sound levels, they work fine. I have searched all over for answers but dont even see the problem addressed anywhere. Never had a problem years ago but had it on another computer. I have no problems with GR or any other game, just RS and UO. I am itching to get back at it, but this has me perplexed and stopped. I did not download DX 6.1 since I have 9.0c. This is the old series of the game from 99.

I installed RS without any problems and am running in with compatibilty mode for 98/ME but after the flash screen gos it says ROGUESPEAR.ICD has encountered a problem and needs to close...can anyone help?

I deleted RS and installed it on another drive just incase it worked...it didnt lol..so I put it back on the c drive, and now when I click the exe it just says roguespear.exe has encountered a problem and has to close Im still doing the same thing with the compatibility thing.

agh sorry for the tripple post but I just found out when I click the exe file on the disc, I get the same problem as I started off with..
