Ok just to start off im running on a dell inspiron 6400 laptop and whenever Dark Messiah desides it wants to run it works extremely well with or without the charger plugged in and im running it through steam, anyone here's my problems
1. Upon starting sometimes the game flashes my screen black a few times and then refuses to run, this is simply solved by restarting steam, but i would still like to know how i can prevent it? 2. Game starts and it will give me an error and stop my game halfway through the main menu load with a direct 3d engine error, so to fix this i start the game again, no error, why does it do this? 3. My game will not be able to pass by half of the chapter 8 load screen, i would like to continue the game but obviously the games maps.gcf has been corrupted in some way, a link to the maps.gcf download would be good or maybe its something to do with the engine/scripts 4. Look i dont know why but im constantly getting error about the same FRIGGING instuction not being able to be read, this is also fixed by constant restarting steam Just really need number 3 fixed, the rest i would be happy to get fixed but just number 3 would be very nice [EDIT] That Frigging instruction not being read is this one, "The instruction at "0x2409b179" referenced memory at "0x20421ea8" The memory could not be "read"" also the game seems to never want to run in online mode This message has been edited. I'm sorry not to be able to answer your question, but I figured it's best to use this Thread to post my own (related) issues.
When I first played the Demo (about when DMMM was released), I had absolutely no issues at all. Now I bought the full version and I got the memory read error after setting my screen-gamma (to do when playing DMMM for the first time apparently), when setting my resolution to 1440*900, and now when loading the mission after the tutorial. I got an error message stating: "not a Bink file" when trying to load the film sequence after the tutorial. Now I can't load the map after the tutorial, because it gives me "memory read errors" or "dx9 errors"... These were the reasons why I spent half an hour looking for DMMM-updates. When I finally found and applied them, my game wouldn't start, asking me to "insert the correct disk" (YES, I HAVE the original disks, and NO I NEVER made a copy). It forced me to download a No-CD-crack, which seemed to work fine. But I still couldn't load the map after the tutorial... That's why I decided to remove DMMM from my software list and add it again using steam (instead of installing from the CD). I spent 4 hours loading a file that revealed itself being a DEMO when I tried to learn a magic skill during the tutorial. Suddenly I realized, there were several graphical errors in the demo (like blood being replaced by black rectangles, or the chest with the sword looking oddly metallic and the last door before the crystal looking somehow golden). Afterwards the demo failed to load the second demo-map due to the same problems as the full version. After nearly 8 hours trying to get that blasted game running correctly, I'm beginning to get desperate... By the way my PC's components are as follow: Pentium 4 2GHz 1GB RAM Radeon X1950 pro (AGP 8x on AGP 4x Mainboard) Besides: Why did Steam load the demo, when I bought (and activated) the full version? And why does the updated version of my game pretend my CD was faked? I hope I'll get an answer as well |
