I want to be able to create a custom map. However, my sources tell me that I need a mod from Half Life 2. I am wondering if it is worth it to buy the game, also there is the special Orange Box deal which is very cheap for a number of games.

The orange box is totally worth it for the 3 games it have inside, if it also make you able to do dark messiah mods, jump on it !

I must admit that the storyboard is now a bit outdated 'cause you surely read a lot of reviews/walktroughs on magazines or web sites, but playing is not reading.

With Hammer editor you can build maps with all DM's textures and/or static models.

You can't have NPCs acting like in DM, but if a good coder could waste the same amount of time spent by some user for having DM "alive and kicking" you could make a better game for true.

Ok thanks, I dont read magazines because a lot of them are biased, propaganda or paid to say somthing about it. I wanted real opinions on it. Thanks again guys.

Actually this is a DM topic, i was wondering about the orange box because I wanted to make a map for my clan and I was told that I needed hl2 sdk for it. So... this is on topic.
