It feels to me like it might be a common bug, but in reading the patch descriptions it hasn't been fixed yet so i don't know.

In the first mission where you obtain the demon form, you have to retrieve your equipment from the chest. Every time i try to pick up the backpack the game crashes to desktop.

I will patch the game up to the latest version and try again but i doubt it'll make a difference.

I also read the last thread about this problem, and you sent them to that page as well.

My PC is a brand new gaming pc, 8800gts AM2 6000+, 2gb dd2 ram.

I've got 11gb left on the HDD the game is installed onto, and i'm running it at the right aspect ratio etc etc etc.

The entire game has run fine, over 100fps up until this ****ing backpack.

Yeah, i did read it actually.

1) I was running it at 1024 x 768 but i've been changing the res around trying to get it to work.

2) Last time i updated to the latest video card drivers i got enough system errors to force me to rollback to the ones i have now

So you changed it to unsupported resolution 'to get it to work'.

Running a game is the heaviest task for a PC. A game is one constant dynamic stress-traffic on the components of the PC. Any less than optimal part in the chain can be the cause of system errors. Soundchip directly uses CPU and RAM. Outdated sounddrivers can cause a game to crash.

Why did you post an 'X-fire" report? X-fire is for online gaming. Should not be running during a singleplayer game. Reboot the PC without any unneeded programs eating up resources or blocking processes (system protection, antivirus) running on the background. Tick off all items in msconfig/startup items.
Defragment the hdd(s)!

EDIT. So now you installed the patches (your settings export is still without), i suppose your problem is fixed.

The backpack issue is far far more simple, Either you tried to pick up an item from the orcs (shield or buckler etc) Or you didnt. The bug sometimes happens because you did( often) or because you need to (rarely) . At worst have you tried just kicking them into the fire without even using demon form?

As a demon you can't pick anything up.

But the game should not crash by attempting to...
