I just bought the game today throught steam. Multiplayer installed before single player, single player is sitll installing, but i wanted to try it out so i clicked on launch game. and it says preparing to load game.. then it disappears and the timeglass appears by the mouse cursor. Then this pops up.

I guess no you don't have to activate it then. Just wait till someone comes along who also bought it through Steam to help you further! I have the DVD version.

Your CPU (Intel Pentium III, ~797MHz ) is way below the system requirements, useless to even consider all the other components missing, this will never work...

i got it to work...i didnt have direct x 9,...and it runs kinda laggy..but good for what i have in my computer...and thanks for the help.

Remarkable that you got it to work on a PC that much below the official requirements for the game. I assumed updating DirectX and all other tuning would have been a waste of time. But you seem to have proven otherwise. Good work!

Pity my old Pentium 3 ~733 Mhz is without a PSU atm, i would have done a test myself.

If you want, i can help you with editing the .reg file (as described in [POST 19]) to try to get it running with lesser lags on your PC.
