MP Patch 1.01 released on 11/03/06 as an automatic download via Steam. Simply log into your account, and the next time you try to load Dark Messiah MP, it will install the new code.
******************************************************************************************** MP Update 1.01 changes and bug fixes ******************************************************************************************** - ?Can?t find background image materials/console/startup_loading.vtf? error: Due to incorrect registry key setting for Steam language, now fixed - ¾ Loading Progression lockup: Fixed - Loading bar: Now displays progress information - Remembering skills on disconnect: When a player reconnects to a server the game should return him to his previous level. This will not work across campaigns (new campaign wipes all skills). - Scoreboard fonts: Changed the scoreboard to ensure it displays 32 players even at low officially unsupported resolutions (e.g. 640x480) - Main Menu: We have made sure the main menu displays even at low resolutions (e.g. 640x480) - Battle Begins Message Flicker: Fixed - Backstab improvements: We have made yet more improvements to the backstab system, making it smoother to trigger and preventing 'lockup' situations - Assassin cloak / capture points: Now the action of taking a point is considered an 'aggressive' act and will de-cloak an assassin - Stoneskin damage change: Stoneskin now lasts less long on priestesses than other characters. Stoneskin will slow a staff user's attacks down while stoneskinned. - Leaping attack bug fixed. Knights must now sprint up to a minimum speed before triggering Leap Attack. OMG I love you Kuju.
Though personally I'd rather have it so cloaked assassins *can't* capture a flag, than having the flag-capturing process de-cloak them. That could be really annoying when the area is contested (i.e. a bunch of guys on the other team are coming your way, so you cloak at the flag to backstab them once they get there) Oh, and thank you esp for adding ALT-TABing back in. This was so freaking annoying when the game froze and I had to restart my entire computer to get out. |

Looking forward to this patch.
A bunch of major game issues are fixed. I especially like XP saving - finally! Hopefully the missing sounds on non-ubi servers, and regular memory error crashes will be looked into, as well.
Backstab needs 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 beta style momentum boosting too. Being able to trigger the backstab and not have it lock up is one thing, the other problem is the constant misses on moving players (esp. players that are running directly away. Backstab can trigger several times, but it doesn't carry you forward enough to actually reach your target, all while draining your entire stamina bar).
I think this is a bad idea. People already AOE capture points and use prediction attacks against assassins as it is - it was never an issue. Most of the action takes place on and around capture points, and an assassin not being able to cloak or constantly decloaking while running past a capture point would be unbalanced. I for one would exploit this by camping around flags and making assassins run around/through them to get to me so they become entirely useless.
Excellent! This will definitely improve the quality of gameplay. No more untouchable one-woman armies that solo flags and tank teams of 5. If they want to keep stoneskin up on themselves, they will have to constantly pay for it.
There's really no need to nerf priestess attacks further, since the damage was already lowered in 1.1.2 beta. The main issue with priestesses were their godly survivability, which made it possible to eventually wear down a group of people in a prolonged fight - not because they had especially good melee attacks. The lowered stoneskin duration for priestesses is just perfect, which makes this change unnecessary (priestesses should still be able to fight effectively, but they must pay for it by spending a boatload of mana to constantly refresh stoneskin. Think of it as speccing in a different skill tree, where the limitiation isn't the skill points you have, but mana supply).
This is another unecessary balance change. The range and arc for melee attacks are already so poor that warriors have no chance of keeping up with levelled ranged units that can one or two shot them. The good thing about leap attack is that a warrior actually has a chance of killing stoneskinned enemies while trapped in bramble spam. Even outside of brambles, it is incredibly easy to sidestep and dodge leap attacks due to the poor weapon range (the attack doesn't even coincide with the end of the weapon model). This change will only make warriors become more predictable for my lightning bolt and dual arrow shots - if anything, melee units need an across the board 1.5x weapon range and swing arc boost. I think the subject of this post has a typo. The date should be 11/2/06 today's date I assume, unless Ubi has been holding onto this patch longer than they should have.
I'm finally looking forward to actually playing the game with people for a significant time without it freezing on me during loading. I hope they get the patch released soon. I mean anything is better than not being able to play for a significant time like it is currently. So just approve it already if it has some minor bugs in it I'll wait for the next patch as long as I can play. |

I guess the best option is to see how slow their attacks are, and see if the attacks include both regular quick attacks and stance attacks.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but it's quite annoying.
while running and you hit a slope or small slant you go flying off of it like a ramp or something. really annoying sometimes. example: wooden steps on L_MP3 to get to the main bridge from the forge. while turning one of the corners to go up the other flight of steps above you go shooting off. i've fallen off the side like 2 times in a row before because of this. also, is the warriors shield not always coming up while fighting by design? sometimes i get stance whacked like 2 times before i can even put a shield up once. i know this isn't the right post to put this under i guess, but i want it to be seen. |

Acheval may i ask you a question will you add colisuem it says you guys have it in the game manual.Thats cool and call but one of the big reasons why i bought Dark Messiah is Becuase of online Colsiuem(aka like a gladatior arena).it says you have it in the game manual is there any chance you guys will add this and Capture the Flag.
