Just curious about this...if you install Dark Messiah from the retail CD's do you have to launch the game through the Steam interface?
And would multiplayer be available without Steam if so?
Hope not....one computer on my network has a terrible time with steam.

You can launch the singleplayer without steam, but u need steam for the multiplayer.

arg eh oh well i was kind of afraid of that.
Well i guess if they want my $50 maybe they can convince Valve to respond to my support ticket.
Going on 2 months without steam no tickets answered yet.The source engine seems to be great for DM but why would they want to run it on such an unstable interface as Steam?

Steam isn't all that bad once you get past the little quirks. It sounds like you're having a problem with your dialup. That's the one thing that steam will not handle well is dialup users.

nah im on cable nice attempt to fix what nobody else on the tech forums could though,or apparently valve neither seeing as how they have not responded to ANY emails or support tickets yeah dialup

what exactly is the problem with steam? you never specified what was going on. (error reports, like dialogue boxes would be helpful, as well as some tweaky behavior).

when steam launches i get an random winamp error code followed by:failed to read from virtual address 88 access denied.I have been through everything on the vale support site and forums.steam worked fine for 1 year+ the all of the sudden it just doesnt work any more.

Other computer on the network has no problem.Yes i have admin on the computer,deleted everyfile in steam except steam.exe and let it redownload ran all the winamp repair programs bypassed my router deleted internet explorer 7 and tried DLing steam with IE6 and foxfire.Completely removed all fire walls tried it reinstalled em.everything except reformatting nothing works.

i have no issues what-so-ever with any program but steam so im pretty sure its not a hardware issue.i am pretty sure this started after a steam update but none of the fixes taht normally take care of that works(deleteing the config.blob files)

So im just about done with it ahhh the good old days of Valve WON servers.

i hate steam mostly cuz of the way the run things.
you cant even release a game from your account so there for you cant grow up and leave home and take your game with you.. like back when this game came out last year or so my fam had 1 steam account then we had problums playin counter strike and dm at the same time.. enought complaying about steam i just want a dm patch that alows you to bypass steam all togather lols

Buy the DVD version and install outside Steam, then patch 1.01 and 1.02.
