Ok i'm on chapter 5

i get outside where yur goin up a path on the side of a mountain. i get up to the battering ram part thats right by the elevator then i continue up the mountain path and its blocked by some stones and wood that u cant kick down, but there's a portal right next it and i went through and it takes me to a room where i pull a lever and i cant find what it does. and u cant go anywhere else in the room other than back through the portal what do i do at this point.

i've watched and read a bunch of walkthroughs but none of them have this pile of stones and wood blocking there path it looks like a bridge was taken out is what it looks like.
