Weapons, do we aquire new ones throughout our journey? I would hope so, sure we may learn new spells, but what about us fighter-types. You've all seen the sword action in the trailer( bow awesome if I might add) but is that the one sword we can use? What about a spear?Axe?Even spiked fists, the point is do we get different weapons throughout the game, while having the sword is cool I think maybe duel wielding a one-handed long sword and using a hand scythe in the other would make the game alot more interesting(well thats probably not gonna happen Crying, but wielding something different would be Better). And maybe get special reward weapons like Holy scepter of Godsmacking(...yea...)or something. Just please don't stick us with the same sword, its like using the gravity gun in Half-life2, it's fun to play with at first but then it starts sucking, but then makes a comeback...then gets hit over the head with a shovel and it wimpers back into the hole it came out of...Yea... With Stupid...Anyway those are my views on this topic, Please respond, hello?! Anyone there?! (Crickets stop chirping or whatever the hell they do) Smash Smash Smash Smash

I agree, there definetely needs to be different kinds of melee weapons. From what I've seen, theres a very nice looking katana, a broadsword, some form of a shortsword, and a couple other swords. I'd love for there to be spears, or maces, or axes, or whatever. Maybe even implement a shield system, though I wouldnt see that working, because 1: your view would get blocked and 2: it might be kind of cheap.

Of course there'll be different types of melee weapons. It wouldn't make sense only to have one kinf of melee weapons.
P.S: Have you ever played a RPG where the only melee weapons are swords? Hammer

This is not suposed to be a RPG,sadly.And you never know what's in their heads. Though Arxs Fatalis was pretty good ... And with many weapons as i recall.

Action must have more weapons than RPG. There should be polearms and MORNING STARS like Heroes 3 gnolls had. Something REALY BIG would be GREAT!!!

And some nice ranged weapons, maybe shurikens and definetly asymetric composite (hun) bow.

But I don't doubt that there'll be plenty of weapons.

dont forget the blunt weapons. there is nothing like a feeling to smash some1 with a Sledgehammer right in the scull from behind (remembering Vampire Bloodlines) Big Grin so a Maul would be cool.

I agry.
This is definetly fun to smash enemy heads with hudge maul bow or other blunt weapon.
So there should be some.

I like the Katar (hand dagger/claw weapon) idea. It would be pretty original to introduce that to a fps type game. I think the more exotic they can make the weapon selection the better. It was somewhere (IGN?) that I heard there is planned to be approximately a 40 weapon selection. This probably includes everything from melee to bows, maybe staves or wands. Really selection is most important when dealing with melee in order to keep things interesting.

I just really hope they would come out with a "weapons" trailer with a bunch of weapons shown in combat, also, even though it's sorta off topic, how does the warrior kill the dragon?

I'm gettin sorta scared that it might only be swords though, because on the DM page on MM.com it says " Enter ferocious combat with swords, bows, staffs, and daggers, or summon magic powers...

That paragraph scares me.

pomimimin: could you stop double posting please? If you have something to add to a previous post you can edit it. Double posting is usually seen as spamming, and while I'm not really that strict about the rules in this forum while it's still this quiet, I can't really allow for that either.

Jeepers, that does sound a little fishy... I'd love to completely dismiss that as much as you I'm sure, but I guess we'll have to hold our breath. The combat system might just be so complex (compared to what we have going on in games today) that they might not really have been able to integrate a whole lot of variety. In the chance that this is true I only hope that the gameplay is so good that such a (lacking?) feature doesn't affect the playability too much.
