I don't suppose anyone will be able to help me but I thought I'd ask anyway. Sometimes, when I take damage there is a dark checkerboard pattern on the screen. I've tried to find out what I can about it, and it might have something to do with my graphics card not being DirectX 9.0c compatible.

Well I'm not sure if mine is or not. But is that what's causing it, if so can anything be done besides getting a new card?

The black/pink checkerboard means you miss a texture.
Try reloading the game content.

If everything goes all trippy green, then it means your gpu is overheating or just generally ****ed.
