Hey, y'all,

In most of the walkthrough's i've seen when you get to the throne room, the door to the upper level is open. With me, it's locked and a dying guard tells me to go through a portal where the necromancers hide the key. I get stuck in a grave-like place and can't get the key.

Ideas?

No dying guard in Chapter 2: Gleam of a Cold Knife telling the player such a thing. I suggest you stop reading walkthroughs and start playing the game following your own intuition.

Hey, the guard is on the floor to the left of portal that is behind the throne. He tells me that the necromancers are hiding the key behind the portal. So, I go there and get stuck. I'm thinking perhaps this is only because I'm playing the mage profile at the "chicken" level and perhaps no one else plays it like that? If you still say that it doesn't exist, I'll have to take pictures of my TV to show you

I'm sorry that i misunderstood you then.
I've played the game more than 100 times but have never been "playing the mage profile at the "chicken" level"... don't even know what that is! Could you explain about it please. And yes a picture to illustrate can never hurt!

You'll see the locked door, the dying guard next to the portal, then the scrolling message after entering the portal. Finally, you'll see the tomb-like room where I'm stuck. I tried going up the chain and then jumping up to the far ledge, but no luck!

Thanks for the pictures reieto. That is not the PC version (the only i know myself), and this does not happen in Chapter 2 in the PC version, the story is completely different so i'm very sorry i can't help you.

I am finding the same problem with not being able to get the key and I am playing it on difficult with the Warrior also on XBOX 360. I can get past the area in your picture but still when I follow the path it leads me to a portal that looks different but when I go through it, I end of right back where the dying guard tells you to go through the portal. I found all 3 of 3 relics but there is a chest that needs to be opened when you climb the chain behind the big statue, I can't find that key, do you find any information on this?

Ok, from your pictures what you want to do is at the very bottom where the chain is on your last picture is take out a sword or staff and hit that piece of wood that is standing up. I think you have to move out of the way fast because a bunch of stuff falls. Then when you climb the chain you can jump forward to a little ledge then turn and you see the fire burning..then you hold down Y (jump) and press forward and your character will climb instead of jump towards the fire. But you ned to break that board that stands up and you will hear stuff break when you do it, that's when you know you did it right.

Right, now i see it too on the pictures: your version isn't so very different to the PC version after all!
You must go up that chain (as Desiderara explained). Then it's finding your way passing a few crates you destroy (pick them up and throw away) through a crawling space... etc.

This is the tutorial level. Here is where you learn the most basic tactics.

If it's any consolation, I just started playing DM on the Xbox 360 (after playing through the game on the PC) and got stuck for about half an hour on the same level looking for the key to the door. Mostly because I remembered details from the PC version that weren't there... and like a dummy I didn't listen to the dying dude who told me to go through the portal. But then when I went through the portal it was a breeze since that part of the level is identical to the tutorial level on the PC version,

Just keep in mind that there are differences between the different versions of the game so it helps to mention which version you're playing when you ask for help. The biggest thing I have to get used to is the fact that you can't multi-class in the Xbox version which means I really have to look out for those health potions.

Well, can you just tell me where the key is on the XBOX 360 version because I tried everything and no key

If I remember correctly, there isn't a key for the chest that is located at the top of the ledge reached by climbing a chain. The box can be picked though and it does contain frost daggers (at least I think they were frost daggers...) which happen to be usable bu the assassin character only (who also happens to be the only one who can pick, so there you go). As for the way out, I remember there being a lever that was necessary to pull to get out of the level. Also, check the bodies of all the guards (you DID kill all the guards, right?)

Has anyone else figured this Chapter 2: Gleam Of A Cold Knife for XBOX 360 yet? I have killed every guard and switched every leaver back and forth to see if it would do anything different. It makes since that only the thief can pic locked cheast. I am using the The Warrior. I have not been stuck on a RPG game on any system like I am on this one except this one really cool RPG that was out for the first Nintendo..that RPG game was so hardcore. You had 4 characters you operated at once. A Hobbit, A Warrior type, A Magican type and another type...well in that old game if one of your characters died...they were dead for good. No continues and no save points..but there was an option of run instead of fight so you had to pick your battles wisely..anyone I could never beat that game because I got stuck on a riddle with 4 statues that had playing cards( I was a kid at this time ) I'm 32 now...so I didn't get it ...anyway if you answered the riddle wrong..the statues would kill all 4 characters..I was deep in the game and played it for weeks before I gave up..I'd like to find it again but anyway...this is the second RPG where I am stuck but this is so early in the game and that blows my mind..atleast on the other one I was far into the game...Back to Gleam of a cold knife...I make it to a place where there are flames shooting out of the sides of the tunnel..you time it right and make it through easily..you see a portal...go through it and it was some really cool animation but you end up back on the portal that you originally went through to get to chapter 2..so it just takes you in a circle. ANYONE what I am missing..broke all boxes..no key and no way out but a loop

Hey, if I understand correctly where you are, after the room with the flames, you should go through a portal that takes you back to the main hall. You should now have the key to the door that takes you to the next level. Once there you will continue the quest to the rooftops - where I currently am.

And, don't get discouraged...I'm not the best at these games, but I haven't gotten stuck in a game like this one. The jumping and walking is badly controlled and so it's difficult to get to places.

Oh, sorry, I didn't see your earlier post - you don't have the key! I only got it once but the key was on the ground in one of those crypt-like rooms, if I remember correctly.

Ok, I forgot that level was unfnished and you needed to go back to the town(where the dying solider was) I don't know where my head was but do you need the key to open the cheat at the top of the buddah statue and if so what is in that chest?

Could it also be I am playing it on difficult (the hardest way to play) and that the key or leavers are harder to find?? Or are the enemies just harder..I figured the eneimes would just be harder. But this is my first time playing to it's not like I played easy and beat then went to hard and got lost..I just started out on hard. Well, anyway iI really haven't played the game much since I i got stuck so I kinda forgot the story so I deleted my old saved game and started a new one
