I welcome you all to the first official forum for Ubisoft's recently announced Dark Messiah of Might and Magic!

Ubisoft is beginning a new chapter in the saga of the Might and Magic universe, continuing in a tradition of storytelling that has enjoyed one of the most faithful followings of any game series over the years. Using the technology of Valve's Source Engine, developer Arkane Studios hopes to bring a new sense of action and high adventure to the fantasy genre, just as it did in its award-winning fantasy title Arx Fatalis. Dark Messiah will immerse the player through first-person perspective in the same richly imagined and detailed world that has already brought us so many classic experiences in roleplaying and strategy.

There are some basic rules for the forum posted here - we'd like to ask you all read them before posting.

I hope to make this a friendly and good-humored place for you to come and discuss all your thoughts about this new title, and with the rest of Ubisoft's Community Manager team I look forward to working with you all and seeing that you enjoy your stay here.

Man! This game NEEDS to be an RPG! Don't ruin the M&M series with another Crusader or Legends of M&M! PLZ!!!

I think it might be fun to see a more action oriented game, as long as it has a good story behind it. I do prefer RPG though.

Chances are that it is too far along to turn this game into an RPG.
However, its development should not hinder UbiSoft in creating MM X as well, right?

Am I the only one who likes the color scheme here better than the HV forum? (Though I still think alternating post colors would be helpful…)

Has anyone here played rune? I know they already said first person action game, but it would be awesome if you could view it in first or third person perspective.
Rune had the best melee combat system of any game I have yet seen. So a RPG/Action hybrid type game that was like rune would be the best outcome I could imagine for this game

I do hope it will have an RPG flavour, considering that it is a Might and Magic game after all. The FPS designation seems a little alarming. Hopefully the third person view will still be an option, and you will have melee weapons.

I guess the mightandmagicgame.com domain will be used for all games of the Might and Magic brand. Actually, they should have used the plural form there.
