I love Dark Messiah to death, but there isn't enough gameplay depth to justify the ridiculous difficulty of Hard. This isn't challenging hard; it is lame hard. The enemies take ages to kill and can strike you down in about two thwacks. Half the time, a power attack won't stagger them, so they just hit you while you're hitting them. I don't get what the point of this exercise is...

If it takes ages to kill them, then I suppose that must theoretically make the game longer, eh?
Oh, and the dodging/blocking/constant attacking that constitutes a lot of talent with the game is what makes it interesting to do on hardcore mode. Good fun in my opinion. |

In the time it takes for you to read this post, a ghoul will have headbutted me for 50 damage and the kill.

LOL!
Make better -strategical- use of all your equipment, FreedMind22.... (No spoilers). IMO, Hard mode is never too hard, btw. Challenging? Yes, big fun. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx BlindNero Forums for online Dark Messiah MM and other games support |

I'm not seeing it. Yes, lightning weaponry against orcs and ghouls. But it takes them less than a second to kill me, and that much time to get an attack. I can barely kick-power strike before getting wrecked.
And I can't even get through the section after you get the skull, because your new ability is WORTHLESS. |

normal = easy
hard = normal hardcore = hard in my opinion i think normal is just too easy, spit on your enemy and they will fly over hills. hard is more fun, more balanced, on hard you have to hit , and avoid being hit. hardcore is insane, 2 enemy hits and you are dead. though the enemy needs like 50 hits / a head lost before they are dead. hard is the most fun after my opinion due to its balance. |

Yeah, I made a Normal runthrough (in 1.2 though), and it definitely got a smidge TOO easy.
But I really think, unless I accidently chose Hardcore (How do you check?) that Hard is a bit too hard anyway... |

LOL I love Hardcore mode and i think its the best way to have some fun!FUN I mean real FUN ITS WHEN YOU AFRAID OF YOUR ENEMY !Yeah and I think Arcane heve changed game a bit from the begining!I think they have cutted some sounds from the game!(watch the trailers and then play you will see the diffrence!)

Hard difficulty is challenging and to me that equals fun. What it the point of playing a game on Easy? It makes it shorter and I certainly don't feel the same sense of achievement after beating it.
As to ghouls on Hard - yes, they are insanely tough. 2 hits and you are down. So you have to out-fight and out-smart them. Ice on the floor to slip them up followed with a finish does it for me. Or throw a rock in their face to knock them down. A single ghoul is very vulnerable to circling to the right and right power slashes. |

Oh yeah that's right, i meant Hardcore mode. Hardcore is the only mode that keeps challenging for me. Freedmind: practicing is everything, keep finding new ways, the game is full of it. I'm a SP gamer. The AI in DM reminds me of CounterStrike: CZ SP version, with a lot more variations. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx BlindNero Forums for online Dark Messiah MM and other games support |

Haven't tried the game on Normal
I find Hardcore very suitable for an assassin as you have to remain unseen or you will be in for a deadly fight. On hard you can fight through without using combat abillities. Assassin with charm on hardcore I have found funniest yet |

Sorry for you Syncourt, i guess you need practice more.
I kill them all (group of spiders, orcs, ghouls, you name it) per sequence (losing as little health as possible), save, proceed. When i die, i reload and try again the whole sequence. I played the game so many times now... and keep playing it, the replay value is infinite! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx BlindNero Forums for online Dark Messiah MM and other games support |

Well, I finished DM (yet again) without dying because of monsters on hardcore. 2 times because of traps though. So, practice makes perfect |

I personally found staves to be really nice against ghouls, but I played through it before they changed the difficulties. I'll have to go back through on Hard (then Hardcore) and try it again, see how I do.
Using the right-moving Power Strike on a staff worked well for me on Ghouls. They'd get a little stunned and vulnerable to a kick off the ledge or into spikes. ----- Rawr! *Leap Attacks onto some Mage's head* Hm... Odd *crouch + quick attack* Mage: Wha..? How'd you get there? |

Why would I need more practice? finishing a single game over and over again is just a waste of life. Anyway I call total BS, there is no way you would get past the vampire knights without constantly saving after surviving because of thier animation glitches (not being stunned) and taking one shot to kill you there is no such thing as losing as little health as possible, its either live or don't. Quit tuggin yaself... |

By then I had the Dragonclaw sword, so those guys were the least of my problems. Even when they didn't want to be stunned. Lure them up some stairs and kick them down or something. Be more creative? |
