So yes, I DL'd this game off of Steam, and it seems that whenever I enter combat I get some heavy FPS issues. Now, I didn't have these issues on the demo, NOR on the prologue with the normal game, it only started happening when I entered the first town.

I would assume that the problem is not my PC, as I can run Crysis on High w/o these kinds of technical issues. Now I was also assuming that the patches were already DL'd but Im starting to have my doubts, as it didnt go to the update menu when I launched the game as per usual. It may have already been included w/ the game DL but Im not sure.

Here are my specs: GeForce 8800GT 512MB, Intel Dual Core E7200, 4G of RAM, Vista 64bit

I had to download the updates manually. I got them from Xfire

There's a possibility it's an issue with vista x64, some games just don't seem to like x64 OS's... (Bear in mind the last time I tried an x64 version of windows was a few years ago, maybe things have improved since then?)

Dark Messiah works fine for me on Server 2008 x64 as well as Vista x64. Although I did get less FPS on the Steam version than I did on standalone. If you have the DVD of the game (And you didn't buy it through steam) try installing the Stand Alone version.

i loaded up DM a few months ago, bought it to its knees. also off the top of my head, its not offically supported in vista

Nonsense, it's not the game. Dark Messiah runs fine on Vista 32/64 bit SP1. Tested both DVD and Steam version,singleplayer/multiplayer.

Steam version is automatically updated, no manual patching.

btw dark messiah multiplayer 24 players border fort > crysis on high. i have to say SP did run pretty nice though mainly. although i did get the slow down too (eg the part when your on the horse walking into town)

Yes i have tested it on perfectly maintained systems that are within the system requirements for the game, not on ones that aren't.
Which means my tests are Reference, proving it is not the game nor the Operating System causing the troubles people post on the forums.

Vista used to crash on the game, but after numerous patches cumulated in SP1, and with recent drivers from ATI/nVidia that is history.

i'm also getting very slow running during and after battles - or when there's lots to process (leaves, tree etc)

my system specs are:

Windows Vista 32 Bit
AMD 64 X2 4400+
8800 GTS (x2 SLi)
2gb RAM

all drivers up to date

I got a new gfx card (ATI 4870)

Yeah, I have steam too. Is a ****, I can't believe what I got a core quad processor and gtx 9800 and I got lag... Inclusive with the lower options... Then, all people with steam's dark of messiah can't play?? I want my money...

Steam is what??? If you use Steam, make sure you have the latest version. Many problems arise from an old Steam installation with new games on it. Just back up your games. Completely uninstall Steam. Reinstall from the latest Steam Installer, see this page, follow link "Get Steam Now".

Btw make sure you have a cabled broadband connection. Firewall configured to allow the game, or firewall down (if only to test).

Steam is the best. I mean what DM in steam is a sit... My steam is correctly updated because I have the orange box, and counter strike source (with highest conf) and I can game perfectly.

Right-click on the game > properties > local files > "verify integrity" and "defragment".
Make sure Steam interface language is English.
Keep the ingame's settings for Video moderate, in any case lower than what you have in singleplayer version, and resolution 1024x768 or similar widescreen.

Hi all!! I would be verry greatfull if someone could help me. I have recently brought dark messiah might and magic. When i go to install the single player it just shutes down steam, but the multy player has installed fine. I have vista. Does anyone know why it wont let me installthe single player?!?!?!? Thanks XD
