What ever you say buddy |

Umm, let me get this straight, the SDK is out?
Some misunderstanding here...
Let's get it straight: There is NO SDK at all. Period. You only have an .fgd file in order to insert entities in Hammer, the .vmf files for the MULTIPLAYER maps (so you can have a look into them), and the .exes needed to properly compile maps from Hammer or command line, that's all. You have NO source files to mod anything. You can only MAP (this is the proper word...) for multiplayer. With the very first release of the demo you could compile maps with the .exes that come with Half-Life 2 (ep.1), then modifing a bit in the compile file you could run those maps in the DM demo. This is (was) "MAPPING" too, not "MODDING". With a little work you can figure out a working .fgd for Hammer and this demo release (not so different from the supposed proper single player .fgd). Let's thank UBI (and Arkane) for this.... |

Thanks for clearing that out Fender3D, I got my hopes up for a complete SDK but this is great progress too ^^
Omg you guys are blind in away they have gived us SDK ATM i am making a map for Dark Messiah Multi Player.
@danny
I really hope you're a better mapper than a developer 'cause if you'd know what SDK stands for you'll understand what we're talking about.
Well they gave us what we need so what the problem?
But the topic says "Why won't the SDK be released?" so I'm talking about SDK. "Why doesn't Ubi give us those 4 darn files, so we can map for SP too?" Again: the SDK release will bother Ubi with questions like "How can I code a sword with (put your favourite feature here) in it?" or "How can I make the spell that will freeze then suddenly burn my enemies?"... Who could ever answer those questions? Not Ubi they're resellers, they won't hire a team in order to understand what Arkane made, then explain it to folks, and they won't ask Arkane either. So, no, I don't guess the SDK will ever be released... THIS is the problem |
So basically, we got the SMK which stand for Source Mapping Kit, instead of the real SDK (Source Development Kit) which we will never have because Ubi is evil?
lol
Ubi is not evil They simply resell what other folks do. I should say they're there to make things more expensive... (hmm thinking back to their user support this claim might be read "useless") |
It will cost ubi in the long run if they release it and they cba answering the questions like fender said.
O well at leasted we can map for MP :/ |
To bad they won't release it...
What idiots and nerves they have to "offer" and don't give. Also Danny, it won't cost them a bit in the long or short. Why? 1. They already sold what? 1million or so copies? they made 'little' off of it. 2. If they were to release the SDK. Then it won't cost anything to them really. 3. Witht he SDK Being out.... we could potentially bring back the game and give them "more sells" Either way they aren't losing anything other then there head if I meet one of them > |
If they had wanted better sales on DM: Elements, they shouldn't have destroyed the game. I don't know how you go from: Pretty good (Not best, but good) game, to absolute terrible. They destroyed all the things that were fun in multiplayer too.
Well, at least we have access to the GCF files. We can do minor tweaks but nothing too fancy.
