1. Warrior
You know, I have noticed a lack of tips for not just warrior, but all classes. In MP, I mostly play warrior, and I believe I am somewhat decent at it. I am by no means good, but I am not horrible, either. So, I just thought I would post some tips for warriors so people wouldn't brush off the class like it was ****. I play warrior most as I just love to hack an slash through enemies. The warrior is devastating in close ranges. Bar none. This is basically your "grunt" of the game. People who love to charge into battle blindly and plain outright damage the enemy will love this. Not for players who want to survive long periods of time. Advantages:
-Has a shield for deflecting arrows -Devastates in melee -Fun -Nice class powers -Leaping attack (if bought) kills in one hit (usually excluding warriors). Disadvantages:
-Low-leveled warriors are hindered by low stamina -Entirely dependent on stamina -Mages overpower warriors -Assassins will give warriors a headache One unique thing about this class is that other warriors' flurry of blows will not damage another warrior unless they attack from the sides and rear* (from my observations, rear does 'normal' damage). This makes it imperative that warriors dueling use their stance attacks or it will be a much longer battle. When two warriors' stance attacks meet each other, there will be a *clang* and the attacks are cancelled out. This can make for long duels unless one of the warriors panics and starts using their standard slashes. *=Due to the damage system, if a warrior has not levelled up their armor and the opponent has levelled up their strength (to full), flurries can wear down health. If a warrior has levelled up their armor to full and the opponent has levelled their strength to full, damage is minimal from the back only. Refer to here if you are confused and for more information: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/808101043/m/2211016915 Some things that I, personally, always do: -When I level, I always go for Second Breath as it allows me to sprint more often. Vital against mages and assassins. -I never get magic resistance as it seems to do little, if nothing, significant. -After third level Second Breath, I also go for Safeguard. It seems to help against mages, especially when trying to cap a point. -Go after assassins. I ignore warriors, archers, and mages just to get after assassins as they are the biggest threat with their backstab. A skilled assassin can do more damage than a warrior in a shorter amount of time, given the right conditioins. Some things I urge you to do when playing this class: -BE PATIENT. If you have trapped a mage down into a dead end, wait around the corner for your stamina to recharge. This will allow you to take that mage by surprise as you now can just sprint straight to the guy. If capping a point, STAY on that point until you capture it. Unless that lone mage is within sprinting distance, it is better to sacrifice yourself at the point rather than between him and the point where the cap timer stagnates. -USE THE TERRAIN. This cannot be stressed enough. If there is a mage in front of you, and you cannot sprint to him, TAKE COVER. It's better to fight another time than to give the mage a free kill. If it is an archer, you can just use your shield. -DON'T PANIC. Many times I have faced warriors who dueled pretty well until they just lost it. Then they started their flurry of blows and pretty much failed. A cool head may not keep you from dying, but it will keep the enemies' health down. If you can't take them out, cripple them. 2. Tips This section will give you tactics and strategies against enemies. -Warrior:
If they are far away, hold that shield up. Sprint inbetween their shots, and don't get hit by the poison arrow. It will, for all purposes, blind you. Beware of close range as they then have your head and your feet to shoot at, and the head can score an instant kill. When unleashing on them, use a flurry and sidestep constantly left and right so they can't get a bead on you.
This is somewhat tough. An assassin's flurry is ineffective. They may cloak in the middle of a fight, so watch out for their cloak. NEVER turn your back to them. That is usually giving them a free kill.
This is usually tough. Don't even try to go at them if you are in an open field. Their flame arrow is enough to kill you if they spam it. If you are in melee range, sidestep left and right to avoid their attacks. They might try to throw a fireball at their feet, killing both of you and denying your team the advantage in tickets. Don't stance attack them as it is better to flurry.
This is easy. Just sprint to them and hack and slash. Beware of the brambles and poison.
This can be easy or tough, depending on how new the player is to the warrior or how often the player panics at any given time. The biggest mistake a warrior can make is to use a flurry of blows against them. Unless they are low on health and you can sidestep and attack their sides, but try your luck, don't try. A duel will keep going until someone like an assassin intervenes, or a stupid mage or archer shoots their arrow or fireball into the fray, or rarely, if a warrior bests another. If you need breathing room, sprint away into open ground, hoping that they will follow. You might be able to score a leap attack onto them if they don't sidestep when you turn around. You probably won't have enough stamina. Thoughts? Disputes? I want to hear it. I would love to help alleviate some of the learning curve of this game, especially since it doesn't have any guides strictly for multiplayer (or rather, none that I have seen). I would also love to hear your tips, if you have any. EDIT: Well, people have posted tips. Thank you to all. misteerius has posted a table of what stance attacks do. Here it is:
Stance vs mage: Ruins any fireball / lightning bolt / fireorbs they have in their hand, and they have to be recast Stance vs Assasin: Ruins any p-orb in their hands Stance vs Priest: Ruins any bramble in their hands I will integrate the table somehwere just a bit later. There is no such thing as head shots in this game, I play archer nearly all the time and arrow damage only varies on type and how long you pull the string for (even then there is a max dmg for each arrow). You must be mistaking a double arrow to the head as a head shot. And I personally recommend using stance attacks whenever possible against archers, as they have to redraw their arrows again every time they're hit, which is especially useful against multi arrow.
Use stance attacks if the mage is trying to use a lightning bolt, as it interrupts the charge and the have to start again. But I use stance attacks against anything regardless, but it is really useful to interrupt lightning bolts.
If an assassin is using detonation poison orbs then don't bother chasing them unless they've planted one away from you and they can't hurt you with it. And last of all leap attacks aren't instant kill all the time, warrior armour can mitigate this I think. But it's most effective if you start the leap attack whilst nearly adjacent to the target, not so you land at their feet, although I wouldn't try it against an archer, as it would probably result in their death but probably you losing half or all of your hp. |

I played today and I took the Second Breath skill (that i didnt took earlier) and I owned the balltefield, I was the one with the most kills and I went level 9 before the crusade ended in a partial victory... Second Breath makes all the difference...
I was chasing all the other classes people and they were all dying, it is sooo much fun ! |

You should be usuing stance against all classes, spamming might kill people, but it allows you to take hits in the process. The other major thing is that you can do 80 damage to peoples backs, making it a far stronger weapon, seeing as you can move around with it proned.
Stance vs archer: Ruins any knocked arrow and they must re-draw Stance vs mage: Ruins any fireball / lightning bolt / fireorbs they have in their hand, and they have to be recast Stance vs Assasin: Ruins any p-orb in their hands Stance vs Priest: Ruins any bramble in their hands All huge advantages of the warrior class. Spamming attack should be used when they have <20 hp. |

Agreed with Mister.
It is best to just first attackthem from the side and stance dealing a lot of damage if possible, which most of the time if done correctly 1-2 slashes can finish them. Though then again if your a smart warrior. You know what most of the classes like to use. Mages love fireballs/lighting bolt/ orb etc Same for all classes. That first stance alone will cost basically any player there lifes Thats why as an archer I love the bramble arrow against Warriors |

the main main thing is the mentality of who your fighting
example, CTF_2, everyone loves to camp the top floor. all you do is run up the stairs or go the back way, get some back stances in. 75% of the time people don't look behind them until they die |

Well, really though If you stance them. Normally they run anyways. Who wouldnt and why wouldnt you. Think about it Venom? Would you want to stand toe to toe 1vrs1 melee with a warrior? I doubt it
So your retaliation is to get away from them. That is why I stance, and then stance again. They will either 1) be dead or 2) very close to dead if its number 2) then i just spam 1-2 slashes, BOOM dead guy Stances keep every class basically from attacking the warrior. That is why its so great to stance people. Slashes however, causes a lil disturbance in the players view. SO then again it is also usefull. But i would rather disable them rather than "blind" them |

How can you be so sure they're panicking? Not spinning wildly around to you to shoot you? You know? The shot you could've interrupted with a stance? I just think someone would panic more if they suddenly realised not only did the enemy get first strike but also they cannot retaliate any time soon. (Not to mention losing more than half of their hp in one shot if hit from sides or behind). |

Really? I guess I was. I will edit that part. There's been times in the game where I went in from of a friendly archer and they smashed the back of my head where I fell like it was a head. Thanks for the clarification.
Hmmm. I admit that I still have more to learn. I'll add that as well.
I haven't really noticed that as I can't score many leap attacks. But thank you.
I'll add that to the post. Please tell me if you have any qualms as I might go on leave again soon (but not too soon).
I'll keep that in mind. @Everyone: Thank you. I will edit the post to reflect everything. I would have to go back into the game again as I have been on hiatus. |
