hey i have gotten 20 sword hits in the back and front then got 20 fire balls back and front then! i got frost arrow shots just like that can someone help? its on chapter 8

My suggestion is to use the earthfire sword, or if you can't equip it, your favorite powerful melee weapon will do. You gotta get under it, strike its belly, and then run out sideways(thru its legs), so you don't get hit by the stinger. Use your powerful jump strikes, or the flurry of blows, or whatever works for you, but hit it in the stomach(underbelly). I think the front and back are very resistant if not impervious to damage. Heal yourself every time you get hit, use the antidotes, and react quickly. After I played the game through a few times, I beat it without dying once. It's a matter of getting under it, hitting it, then getting out before it hits you with its abdomen/stinger. I have found fireballs to be ineffective as it is very difficult to target the underside with them, however I have killed it successfully a few times by getting under it and spamming fire arrows(once you hit adrenaline, they become much more effective)..

I used fireballs to draw him out and then earthfire sword when he revealed his belly. Also I used the poisen bow when he backed up, I kept my distanct to avoid the poisen cloud.

I just completed the single player game in normal mode... All too easy.. and short... if you ask me. For the spider, I just kept out of reach in the entry tunnel to it's lair, and used the bow & arrow... The fire bow... can't remember the actual name... I just kept aiming for the head... Took about 10-15 mins, and with a few careful side steps, I never was effected by any poison.

With my method, it takes less than 4 minutes, on the "hard" difficulty (not hardcore).

You don't get the bow of firey wrath until Chapter 9, so the archery suggestion is kind of worthless.

Anyway, there are two main approaches to the Spider. One is if you have Earthfire Sword. The other is if you have the Sanctuary spell.

EARTHFIRE SWORD:
Prepare a Power Strike and dash underneath the spider's stomach. Let it rip, and get in three Flurry of Blows shots before putting up your shield and dodging out sideways through her legs. Rinse and repeat. On Hardcore, I killed her within a few minutes using this and never took a hit.

SANCTUARY:
Equip your best weapon, get under her belly, and start wailing away. Click on Sanctuary and start counting seconds. When you get to 20, pop a mana pot if you need to and get ready to renew your shield. You should have, total, about a quarter second of vulnerability. It took me about 8 minutes to kill her with Lightning Daggers (+4 daggers) using this strategy.

If you have neither of these, use the Earthfire Sword strategy, but take out the extra Flurry of Blows hits and dodge immediately.

Of course, you can be more aggressive if you don't mind going through a bunch of healing supplies. This was how I dealt with the spider on Hardcore difficulty with an emphasis on safety and never dying.

You get the fire bow in Chapter 8. You can only use it if you spent your skillpoints wisely on armour.

I kill the giant spider in hardcore mode (and as Warrior) within 20 seconds after entering the pit. This thread does not contain a [SPOILER] tag so i'll stop here.

EDIT: i'll stop here anyway: everybody should develope their own strategy, that's the challenge of the game. Only when someone is stuck in a problem, a 'hinting help' or problem fix is appropriate. But that's just my opinion.

to kill the spider i always wait until it shows the belly, i use the bow and lit the arrows to make fire arrows, then you only have to stay behind the torches and fire away until its dead

All you have to do is run underneath it and stay underneath it and just keep hitting it with the sword. Heal yourselve with magic and/or potions everytime you take damage. Only takes like a minute.

Hit from under the elly like everyone say, it should work. I know since I did it with the soulreaver staff as a mage.

wow my method only took me 3 minutes witk headshots via fireballs

BTW if you can't use the Earth Fire sword at the time and more critical focused such as my self then you're second best sword in the Super Naga Silksword with lots of potions.

do you really have to save leanna? just can't kill that stupid spider

No, it's optional, you don't have to save Leanna. But if you leave here, there's a fight next that is quite hard without her help.
Now be a man and kill that spider, it is really not that hard.
