This seems to be a hugely common error, but nothing is working for me.

I have the DVD standalone version, patched to full, and these are my specs.

Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 2.4ghz
nVidia 8800gtx 768mb DX10
4 gb ddr2 RAM
Vista 64bit Home Premium
plenty (over 500gb) of HDD space


And every time i begin the game, i get through the videos, to the loading screen, a couple seconds later it crashes to desktop with the error. "Cannot lock vertex buffer...."

I have no ATI card, so the catalyst drivers are not an issue.

I have fully updated my graphics drivers.

I've tried running in compatibility, disabled visual themes, and removed desktop composition; also running as admin - no luck.

I have looked through the bible of bug fixes that BlindNero keeps referencing people, and the fix is useless, doesn't apply.

I've even tried running it in -32bit, as well as doing reinstalls.

I repeat, nothing is working.

I hope someone out there has had the same problem or has a solution i've not yet tried, this game owns (the demo worked on my old computer, albeit not vert well), and i sure can't return it.

Help?
