No, only at point blank should an archer be denied that, is what I am suggesting.

As it stands in the game, an archer is really better in melee than a warrior is, because as the target comes in to engage in melee, he has a ridiculously easy headshot that kills instantly. That's alright for assassins (they can cloak), but warriors have no defense against and basically have to pray that the archer is bad.

Dude that would take all the fun out of sniping wariors in the head from across the bridge. Angry Blue Guy

I'm convinced you're not reading my posts when I say in the very post you quoted that sniping like that is just fine.

I will say it again: ONLY at POINT BLANK RANGE should warrior shields always block archer arrows. I honestly cannot remember the last time I died to a warrior I saw coming when I played an archer, and I have seen some very, very good warriors. Why? Plain and simple, if I see them coming, I can pull an arrow and plant it right between the eyes without hardly thinking about it because the head is such an easy target to hit at that range. If I don't see them coming, then it's a tossup of if I can sprint away and take advantage of the warrior's ridiculously short-winded nature to wriggle out of it.

I'm not saying warriors are a bad or gimped class. The fact that they're still viable even when half of their skills don't work for beans (magic armor not guarding against half of magic affects like explosions, physical armor doing nothing against arrows, Strength having such a minor impact for the number of skill points you have to sink into it) is proof that that they're a great class. What I'm saying is that in Crusade, where the basic emphasis is on close teamwork, you shouldn't have a non-melee class dominating the overall master of melee without a sweat.

With that, I wash my hands of this topic with the exception of the one question I asked. Flame me all you like, I'm no longer paying attention.

well, I bet more than a few people can tell that you haven't played multiplayer for very long from that post.

First off... there is no such thing as extra damage from headshot or feetshot in DM multiplayer, and unless you have drill arrow(in which case, a shield does nothing anyways), no single arrow will be able to go above 60(full pull with flare arrow).

Secondly, what misteerius meant was that if you played warrior for a while, you should know that every time your stance connects with an archer, the archer needs to repull his bow again if he wants to do heavy damage, the other option is left for spamming no pull arrows. Keep that in mind and the fact that a full strength warrior does 40-70(?) damage depending on where he hits with a stance, the duel is thus balanced. (if the archer is a little luckier with the jerk-reflex that one extra arrow is going to take the war down, or else he is doomed)

The 105 damage hits I get from headshots with an archer must be impossible, then.

I've been playing the MP off and on for about 4 months (Though I cannot deal with it for too long at any one time because I am in America and thus have decent ping to a grand total of 2 active servers). It surprises me that we've had such differing experiences when I have a small group of friends I play with that are more or less in total agreement with their experiences. One chiefly plays a warrior, is VERY good (seen him get 3:1 K/D on many Crusades), and I've seen him instagibbed from full health on single archer arrows (I was playing priestess, so I had the luxury of just sitting back and watching).

I retract my comment, however, if what you say is true. In my experience, it couldn't be farther from it, though.

Mana we are having a severe lag wave as i speak... or type. Anyways it is so bad that when sombody used an inferno spell there is a fwoosh sound then a fwoosh sound then it fires abour 5 seconds after you click.

^it could be that you are playing on Mana's new server? I'm not quite sure just what he has changed, but I KNOW that there is no extra damage on the default server settings. So all in all, we could both be right, and I apologize if I sounded like a douche.

There is a 5.7 second charge time on the Fireblast spell that produces a somewhat funny sound :P

hehe The sound is rather loud might I add.

I mean its really lagy, I could use fireball no problem but that fireblast inferno spell would make a really strange fwoosh like sound twice and then there would be a delay where nothing happened then it would shoot where you aimed. After the initial click the hands were curled back while the sounds went off. By the time it actually fired the spell was recharged most of the way.

whats stance-guarding ?!

in one of the stickies, they tested the variables. theres no such thing as a headshot

in terms of when the shield should or shouldn't work......whats wrong with how it is now? i would say however, that a good archer will beat a good warrior more often than not if they are ready for them in a 1 v 1. if the archer is distracted, then its a little different Smile

I enjoy the server very much. Thank you mana.

Thank you for removing the cast time on fireblast it was unneeded on a ff server as the tk'n makes it balanced.

I have a couple ideas that may improve the server:

Allow lock on for melee classes vs mages and priests only. At the moment they are the most dominant classes because of no lock on. It is much to easy(i do it often) to run + jump + spin + fireball away from assassins and warriors for the easy kill once they get to melee range of me.

Remove or reduce priest staff damage. The bramble + stoneskin + staff tactic is quite lame. With the stance staff they can hit in the side everytime cause u are brambled for 30 damage. Maybe reduce it to 5 for front stance 10 side and 15 rear. Reduce regular quick attack staff blows as well 1 front 2 side 4 rear. This will make the healing priest a support class like it is supposed to be not an offensive tank. Or just remove the staff option alltogether. If one wants ot kill as a priest they should have to use the corrupt spell.

Everything else seems fine. I do play every class equally so i am not biased i would just like to see the classes a little more equal with a couple of simple tweaks.

I dunno if u still read this thread Mana but there were 2 guys on your server tonight switching teams constantly to force spawn at any point and if they died to instantly repop without waiting the 15 seconds.

They went under Inhale - steamid 28:31 115 0
Exhale - steamid 27:25 115 0

Pretty much emptied the server Frown

I hate people who take advantage of things like that.
Mana isnt the forced spawn there to let people who just joined get to play?
Could i suggest puting a 2 switch limit on it and after that you need to wate 2 or 3 minutes to switch again.

Here is what I find bad against warrior vrs archer duels. I can hit a warrior with the first shot correct. Well when they use lock on and stance me. causes me to "reload" They have the time to Stance me again.

Making the archer unable to attack a 2nd time.Or if you CAN get the 2nd shot off, you are way out of line and barely enough time to get a good shot in.

Against a warrior bramble is a good way to go. though for me, i tend to miss with bramble. I think its a mind setting or something lol.

Oh and I still love the no lock on. I have around 80 ping on the server. *ask Gnefoac*

So lag for a warrior is moddest for me. I still get around 3:1 or 4:1 ratio against all classes. You just got to play good with it and learn it. Just as you do for other classes.
