for some reason steam shows my single player DM as not installed, but multiplayer installed. i can still launch single player manually outside steam and it runs fine and all, but i am unable to get updates or anything for the single player due to it showing up as not installed. i installed it off the disk if that helps anyone at all. thank you for any help that can be provided to me.
edit: oh yea, forgot to mention that if i right click the supposedly not installed single player and choose install it just crashes steam, no error or anything, instantly closes. This message has been edited. Last edited by: strider_lee, |

This means you have it installed with a DVD yet want it on steam?
Perhaps some Steam updates broke the import feature which was used to move the standalone install to Steam. Contacting Steam support might be the way to go. Or you could just delete the SinglePlayer cache files and re-download the game from Steam. |

Sorry, but what if you unistall the game then select "Activate a product on Steam" from the games menu, and write your game code when prompted?

i'm pretty sure when i installed it i activated it on steam right away too, but it was a while back. its really not a huge issue or anything since i can still play, it would just be nice to get auto-updates for the game. not gonna waste my time reinstalling the game just to fix this, if that's what it takes id just rather live with this and get updates manually, lol. done far too many game re-installs in my time and i m sick of em.

then you're lucky those lazy guys at Arkane made 2 patches only... |

That's not exactly the whole story. First Arkane needs to get payed to make a patch and then Ubisoft needs to pay their bug testers to bugtest/pass QA. Even if Arkane made a free patch without getting payed Ubisoft's QA team would still have to approve it and thus it would of cost ubisoft money anyway to get it approved. Probably why the map kit was never released officialy despite being done. |

oh well, they were paid to develop the game weren't they? IMO they made the demo, modding Half Life with the free SDK from Valve, then submitted it to UBI, 'cause they couldn't earn any money otherwise. Then UBI (always IMO) might have ask for some kind of protection, and Arkane might have said: "don't worry we can do it" with no clues how to do it... (remember, Vista was "at the gates", and only real smart developers were trained to ... develop software for Vista)
The "map kit" only worked in XP, no way on Vista or XP SP2/SP3 (compiling exes) There's no need Arkane releases anything, they should only give a clue about what those BSP, RAD and VIS need to compile properly. (IMO again, UBI would probably not regret for this...) |
