The problem below was solved by uninstalling McAfee Privacy Service.
I called Ubi tech support, and they suggested uninstalling McAfee all together. But knowing I was able to play online in the past with having McAfee, I went first by uninstalling the add on Privacy Service protion of McAfee. This was the last thing I installed from McAfee and removing it fixed my problem. I then reinstalled it and went through every option possible to allow full permissions, and even diabling Privacy Service. But nothing worked. Again I was no longer able to host or join games online. I then got on an online chat with McAfee tech support, and tried several options again. Nothing worked. The McAfee tech was surprized that Pricacy Service could cause this, and even thought it was the firewall, but it wasn't anything other then the Privacy Service. The final solution was just to uninstall McAfee Privacy Service protion of McAfee if I want to play BIA online. Hopefully this info will help someone else who might have problems hosting or joining games even after getting past logging into Ubi.com service. ---original post: BIA:EIB Connection error ----------------------------------------------------- I haven't played in awhile and went to host a game to do some skirmish with my brother. I get all the way to start hosting and it comes back with a connectin error. Never had this happen before. Then the strange thing is, I went to look at games being hosted, and there I see my game that I was trying to host is there. I had even restarted the game, and it was still there. I thought maybe there's a patch out now I missed since I played last. The official Ubisoft site only shows up to 1.02 yet my game says it's 1.03. I couldn't find anything on these forum indicating there's a 1.03 patch and didn't have it saved where I keep the other patches. I must have patched it in game is all I can figure. I tried disabling my firewall but that didn't help. Never had a problem with my firewall in the past anyways. --- ok I found the 1.03 content patch and downloaded and reinstalled it, but that didn't help. I get the same problem trying to host mutiplayer games as well as skirmish. ---- I found the log file after trying to host again. Log: Log file open, 11/09/06 18:03:18 Log: Log switched from EiB.log to GameLog.log Log: =============================================================== Log: =============================================================== Log: Log switched from EiB.log to GameLog.log Log: PC GUI System Initialized Log: PC GUI System Initialized Log: PC GUI System Initialized Log: PC GUI System Initialized Init: Game engine initialized Log: UTcpNetDriver::InitBase(): Our local IP address is: 192.168.0.1:7777 Log: UTcpNetDriver: Log: UTcpNetDriver: Log: UTcpNetDriver: Log: UTcpNetDriver: Log: UTcpNetDriver: Log: UTcpNetDriver::InitBase(): Our external IP address is: 0.0.0.0:7777 Log: UTcpNetDriver::RegisterServerOnline(): Registering server Raider on Ubi.com: Log: UTcpNetDriver::RegisterServerOnline(): Can't register server on ubi.com: gbxRegisterServerIsFinished() never returned true Log: Log switched from GameLog.log to EiB.log Log: =============================================================== Log: =============================================================== Log: Log switched from GameLog.log to EiB.log Uninitialized: Log file closed, 11/09/06 18:06:29 ---- Ok it doesn't actually have those grinning faces in the file. I just tried reinstalling the game, but I saved my profiles and that didn't help. Made sure the app is allowed full internet access on my firewall. Tried turning off my firewall. But I can still only log into Ubi but when I go to try to host a game it comes back with the connection error, if I try to join a game it comes back with unknown error. Both this forum and greabox forum don't seem to have much traffic anymore. I'm wondering if I'll ever be playing this game again online at this point :-( This message has been edited.
