I have the exact same issue. The game is recognized and begins to run off my DVD, but after several minutes of extracting different files, it suddenly begins to delete files and just quits, with no files remaining.
I've attempted to load contents directly to the hard drive and install from there, but it does the same thing. I've also tried to load from another computer via a network, and again, the same issue. Given that one other person has the exact same issue, this must be something lurking....I'd LOVE any ideas! What a hassle.... |

I got the fixed, at least for me. Here's how I did it:
- apparently, it had something to do with administrative permissions. I have Vista but don't login - it just goes directly to desktop when it loads. I restarted, hit F8 and booted into Safe Mode. From there, I installed and it worked perfectly. Hope this helps - I bet I tried 20 ways before I did this, and it worked immediately! Good luck! |

hi.
Same problem here.... I chose custom install and installed the game to my D drive instead of the default C drive. Worked ok. Must be vista being over protective of the c drive. |

I got the same problem! First extracts, than deletes, until it the prog. closes its self without warning. Ive tried running in safe modus, copy files over to hard disk and ive tried installing it on my extern hard disk. Still not working :-( Is there any special way i should do it or any other ideas? Pc specs are good and dvd room is pretty new, would be really weird if that was the problem. It actually worked installing it my rather old laptop. I dont getz it! :-( Help me and ill be forever yours <3

It will take someone smarter than me. In my case, it had to do wtih permissions in Vista. I literally restarted, hit F8, ensured I was in safe mode - if prompted, type in UserName "Administrator", wtih no password, and then once logged in, installed as normal. It worked perfectly for me at that point.
Sorry I can't be of more help... |

This is happening to me on Windows XP as well, nothing to do with Vista or admin rights. More to do with a crappy install shield wrap.
UBISOFT are you listening? No? Nice to know some things don't change. This message has been edited. Last edited by: lodester, |

I have a trace of this failure showing two Sharing Violations on simultaneous CreateFile calls to the base folder (..\Bothers in Arms - Hell's Highway\) At these sharing violations the installer initiates it's bailout.
These appear to be asking for access against the share permissions set by both calls. It is difficult to see what in the environment is specifically causing the crash but it does appear environment specific. I wonder if this only happens on particular IO controllers/drivers. Whatever, I've got a workaround, but this game is going back tomorrow. The time I spent dealing with this crap warrants I not pay for the game. Thanks and good day. |
