I am seriously angry! Just purchased the game, but I cannot install it. The DVD drive makes weird noises and that's that. It does work on my other PCs, but not on my gaming PC. And no, I do not have virtual drives installed.
I am 99% certain it has to do with the copy protection. I tried updating the firmware of my drive: No go, and quite frankly I should not have to do this in the first place. I find this totally unacceptable. Obviously this is the only DVD I have problems with! |

AHAHAHA..this is rich. Now my DVD drive is screwed!!!
So I swapped out DVD drives and guess what: The game won't run giving me a general protection fault! Edit: I got it to work. My god, it's beautiful, BUT! My DVD drive is not working anymore. This must have something to do with the copy protection. The PC does not see the drive anymore. When I check in the CMOS, it is seen by the BIOS, but the naming, ie lettering is all weird and screwed up. To clarify: When first tried to install BiA the drive made weird noises and nothing happend, so I put in other DVD's and everything was fine. Put back the BiA DVD,weird noise again and nothing happening. Anyhow, rebooted and suddenly the drive is a goner. Very, very weird! Again, this is NOT acceptable! This message has been edited. Just saw the FAQ II. It states that the copy protection may conflict with some DVD drives. Unfortunately for me, I just noticed it written on the back of the box as well...in tiny letters haha
Oh well, that'll teach me. Still, is it possible that it actually damages your drive?!?! Too me it seems that way.............. |

I am also getting the Null error either after I exit the game(after clicking OK, my PC restarts) or right away after I install the 1.02 patch. Geforce 6800 GT Asus Mobo 1024 Kingston Value Ram AMD 64 +3200 Soundblaster Live Audigy. Seems like alot of people are having this issue.. cannot believe this got out of beta testing... |

Well, well, well..sooo I am not the only one with a fried drive. I think I We) can now demand an explanation from UBI about this. Also I am seriously thinking about demanding some form of compensation from UBI, (yeah, like they would ever go for that hahaha). At the very least I would first of all, like to get a response in this thread form some official sours..hint, hint. Secondly, I think an investigation into the matter might be in order.
About the general protection error: I changed some settings for my graphics card. I have an ATI 9800pro. The settings I am referring to are: Enable geomatry instancing -ON Support DXT Texture Format - ON Alternate pixel Center -OFF :this is important! At least in my case. In other words, the general protection error seems to have to do with the settings of the graphics car, so fiddle around with those and see what happens. Hope this helps. P.S. If/when you get it to work you are in for a treat. Almost makes up for the trouble...but only almost, because my drive was worth a lot more than the game...UBI!!! grrrr |

Yeah I am the same as a few of the other guys. I get the intro screens when i start the game, but straight after it just goes black. no menu or anything. i can hear the sound ok. been looking forward to this for months, so im dissapointed, but im sure someone will come up with something. ALSO my friend bought the game not realising his nvidia mx 440 is not supported. Will there be a fix for this? if so when?
