At the beginning of the Black Friday map after movie clip, imagery is jittery, then objects with water running down them turn to a silver blob. Shortly the game crashes to blue-screen with the following messages:

Problem detected by Windows and will shut-down the computer to protect it.

Problem caused by ati3duag.dll

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

ati3duag.dll address BF25B760 base at BF19E00, datestamp 48d99dc6.

My PC is Dell 8300 with 3.2GHz P4, 3Gig DDR400 RAM, 160Gig HDD, ATI Sapphire HD3850 512Mb 8xAGP graphics card w/ latest drivers, Viewsonic VX2233wm monitor (sweet), on-board sound.

The game ran fine up to this map. I have latest drivers for graphics card. I also contacted ATI and Sapphire about problem. Any ideas out there?

I have the same problem, BSOD everytime on Black Friday map.

WinXP SP3 on AMD Quad Core box, 4GB RAM, ATI HD 3400 with latest drivers (8.10). No Catalyst software, just drivers. Reinstalled video drivers

Included a mini memory dump:

I was able to find a work around.

I read on another forum to back-date the display driver to an earlier version.

I removed all ATI software from the machine, rebooted the computer, canceled the Windows attempt to load drivers and then loaded version 8.5 driver only. I did not load Catalyst Control Panel. The game then played okay.

After I completed the map, I reloaded 8.9 but did not load the Catalyst Control Panel. I seem to remember in the past having trouble with Catalyst, so I did not load it. Give it a try.

After Black Friday, the game seemed to work okay until I tried to replay a chapter and discovered the game isn't saving the completed chapters. I then clicked on the beginning and lost everything. So I am starting over.

BTW, here's the link to the older drivers.

Since I had to start over on the game, I loaded ATI's hotfix when I got to the Black Friday map and the game worked just fine.

The hotfix is located here under most recent topics:

I downloaded what I thought were the latest ATI drivers for my HD 4870 from my card manufacturer's website (Powercolor), but that didn't fix the problem. Then I tried downloading the latest drivers direct from ATI and that solved this issue. The latest drivers must include the hotfix, as I tried applying that after the drivers I got from ATI, but it said the installed version was newer.
