I live in Europe, and I have really looked forward to the February release of this game here. Zelda and Mario etc. are great games, but lately it just feels as if I have had way too much of this Nintendo 'cuteness'. And I really think 'people like me' is the biggest market segment for this game.

However, I just saw the notes about the Europe version being censored, removing blood, 'violent moves' and whatnot. I just cannot phantom what fundamentally misguided brainless process led to this decision. It is not that I need violence and blood to be happy, but I refuse to spend time on a game when I know that I do not get the 'full experience' as the designers intended, but rather some stupid 'dumbed down' baby-friendly version.

The whole thing just makes me sad, and I have nearly lost all my enthusiasm for the release. Now I'm no longer even sure if I will pick this up or not.

Just go on amazon.com and buy from an american vendor that ships to europe. It may cost an extra ten bucks but if it's that important to you (which if I were in your situation, it would be to me) it's what you should do. If the extra money bothers you, wait 6 months when the price is down and you could probably have a copy for 30 to 40 bucks including shipping.

I don't think I can do that. As far as I know, the Wii games are region-locked (even though Nintendo first announced they would not be).

To buy an American Wii, or enter into some venture of questionable legality to turn my Wii region-free, just to play this game seems a bit much.

Well, I'm thinking of making my Wii region-free for this game, to get the US version. If I get in trouble, I will sue the makers of this game, for forcing me to get a US copy.

Force me? Yes. They didn't even give Europeans an option to turn on blood. So unless they add that, it's considered being forced.

Believe me, I'm interested in laws, rights, and politics, and did quite some research, and know how far I can go.
