we're making a rayman platformer in this topic, you can help too, just post what you want to do.

You didn't listen to me did you?

Anyways, over at PC a while ago, a lot of people agreed it would be a good idea returning the Rayman Fangame Project and it would be linked using people from here and PC. So there.

If somebody's beteer than me he/she can lead the programming team. Anything for a rayman platformer. But i'm good in 2D programming.

It's not about "saving" rayman. It's just for having a rayman platformer again Wink.

-Characters (Rayman, Globox...)
-Objects
-Powers
-Worlds, the enivorement, think of platform block's, building's...

Hmm, perhaps I took the "WE CAN SAVE RAYMAN" part a little too serious. But considdering the sprites, I'm quite good with that. How big do you need them to be in pixels?

Right, we might be progressing a bit too fast here. Wouldn't we need to plan things out, like the story, what we want in the game etc. first?

She's right. We need a storyline first, and we need to know who's going to be in it. So, I guess we already chose the game to be 2D, considdering we will be using sprites.

The best format for the character's is 32 x 32.

But limely is right, i forgot my own rule, i'm getting dusty.

I was thinking of this :

Rayman escape's into an area cald magic field (or something else), he meets ly and the villians want to help Rayman defeat the rabbids. And they defeat the rabbids.

I also have my own suggestions for a storyline. I personally think the scenes of Rayman being captured and thrown into a cell or cage and eventually escaping has been used too much.

I once made up a fanfiction but I never finnished it. Maybe it can inspire you people a bit.

The Heart of the World is unballanced by an unknown cause, causing it to slowly break down and dissapear only a matter of a few months. Climates are changing, magical beings are losing their power, and soon enough, panic rises. Can Rayman collect enough energy to restore the heart in time, or will the planet break down and lose all life on it?

I know it's a little extreme for a Rayman game, so I would like to know what people think of it.I was inspired by the movie "The Core" for this. You should really watch it.

In fact, I can imagine that as a REAL Rayman game! It's one of the best storylines for games I've ever heard! =D
... we could combine it with the old RZFGP storyline for the new PCRZFGP ( Pirate-Community & RaymanZone FanGame Project ) ... that'd simply be great! ^^

Anyway, this thread is a little... well, how shall I say it... pointless. If you start to make a game with all these ideas, it will probably be discontinued in no-time, even sooner than the RZFGP went down.
This is my opinion:
1. The game will phail when you do everything this fast. I've seen it happen several times. Think everything over a little, and always see if you can find something better.
2. Only 32 x 32 pixels for characters? That'd be a little... small... WAY TOO SMALL.
3. You forgot the most important question for a Rayman game in the first post: What will the storyline be? Rayman games have to be EPIC, or they won't be true Rayman games. Look at RRR: It didn't have a storyline -> It failed.

Well, that's what I think, anyways.
But yeah, don't forget: Once school is over for 2 months for me ( and that is in only one month ): The PC&RZFGP will CERTAINLY get an update! Wink

If this is going to work, I think we're going to need a sort of leader/manager as well, who can keep track of things, solve problems and have a final say in decisions and stuff. (and I'm certainly not up for that job)

You're not the first to come up with this idea, believe me. I'd love to see the Rayman Fangame Project revived, but I need to finish Phoenixan first. Big Grin

@ Bar: Thank you. I've had alot of good stories in my mind as of late. I often get very good inspiration from just watching movies.

If it was for me, I'd say Michel Ancel would had to lead this project if he wanted. But you know, he's too busy, not to mention if he even knows of this.

P.S. @ Phoenix, I remember that first screenshot! You had to shoot those canonballs to recieve red lums before engaging the first boss, right?

Yep. Big Grin It's changed a little in the final game though. Mostly to balance out the difficulty. Plus you walk out into the city now, and it's not like, "whoa desert right out of a palace!"

But you know, a good option is helping out existing projects rather than start new ones sometimes. Creating a game is a hard long process, but it can always be hurried along with a little help from talented members. I always find that artwork is the longest and toughest process for a game. That could just be me, since I'm also a perfectionist, but you know the idea.
