I can help with some sprites and some ideas for the boss part if it's needed.

Alright.
Mostly the bosses that need work are: - The Ice Palace Monster/Guardian - The Shadowed Beast/Guardian - Razoff? (The fight is going to work as it did in R3). - The Mechfish (I have no idea how this fight is going to work out quite honestly, but so far, I have a concept room kind of set up where there's 3 pools of water he pops out of...) http://ray3885.deviantart.com/art/The-Mechfish-72129422 - Zaroff in Parts (I still need to figure out a great final fight for this guy. So far, there's 3 stages in the fight, but as for the final stage... I don't know, what I have now just doesn't seem "epic" enough.) So far for the Ice Guardian, I have mechanics similar to the Barrel Guy in the demo, since Henchman 1000 replaces him as a boss in the final game. Mostly, the bosses are going to be half puzzle, half fighting, much as they seemed to be in Rayman 1 and 2. If I'm not explaining things well enough, let me know. I'll scan in the pages for them in my book tonight probably. |

WARNING!!! HORRIBLE GRAPHICS AHOY!!!
sorry for the double post, i thought of how the mechfish battle could possibly work. i often make up games in my head and i once pondered ideas for my own donkey kong country game, and that's where the idea came from. basically, you stand on a platform that is partially submerged in water with the mechfish underneath you like so. did i spell pheonixian right? anyway, the platform is floating, so when you shift your weight around it tilts eg: other things of course can also affect this like enemies. the enemies could also be trying to knock you off into the water. so far i've decided reasonable enemies would be pirate gorillas and thos flying bombs, of which the latter could possibly come out of the fish itself. and when you do fall in... one idea i had for how you could hurt him is by deflecting the heli-bombs, but ultimately, when he does get hurt he gets angry and... oh no! smaller platform! he could also possibly bump the platform with his body from underneath to try and tilt it and fling you off. what do you think? Well for an action style bossfight I tought about a falling race...
I see you don't understand what I'm just talking about so let me explain, that boss fight would be actually placed in an an almost endless pit, Phoenixian and the boss is falling down, at the end of the pit there is a portal, you fight against the boss and dodge him, because that's how you slow him down, and that's how you could take some adventage, of course while you two are falling there are some intresting stuff iside the pit, rocks, snubs, various blocking elements that you should avoid from and of course lums and power ups that you shoud get. The main goal is to reach first the portal at the bottom, becouse that portal only takes one person away the other one will hit the ground, and that means automatic death. I don't get it, if you shoot the other he just get hit and slows down becouse he's not in the pose what makes him falling faster, there's no need of ropes or anything.

Well basically he could only attack him if he's next to you, if you attack him, he solws down, even he could get out of the cameras angle then, so basically that's a race, but yes, you should dodge his attacks if you don't want to slow down, and you should dodge the rocks and the snubs on the pits wall, and fallingf rocks and things like that, so the main goal is to reahc the bottom first and don't take any hit.

I see what you mean, you're trying to dodge him and other obstacles while the fish thing hits everything and slows down as you reach the bottom.

Well, I can see a falling fight with another enemy, but I'm not quite sure about it being with the Mechfish. I'm rather partial to the original idea or another variation of it.
P.S. In case it also helps people out with ideas any, I have vehicles in the final game: walking shells, flying shells, tanks, flying creatures, mine carts, etc. Other vehicles can be added in on the fly as long as there's sprites made for them. |

Well he could only attack you if he's next to you, both of you could only shoot left and right, if you hit him, he slows down, maybe if you hit him many times he could get out of the cameras angle and if you dodge all of his hits, and all the things, rocks and snubs from the pits wall, and falling rocks and things then you could win, then there's no problem, if you are not the first like I said before there are powerups in that pit so there could be one kind that increases your speed for a short time. (Like in the Andy Asteroids race from Earthworm Jim), also the blocking items could block the boss to so there's a chance for getting the first place.
There would be no reason to shoot down, becouse if both of you could shoot down then the whole level is about to shoot each other, you're the first then he shoots you, He's the first then you shoot him, and that would be frustrating and caotic. |

We'll see. I'm just not sure about it being with the Mechfish since, you know, after you defeat the mechfish, you're free to dive back in the water and reach the Pirate's Undersea Launch Station.
