I think that even though Far Cry Vengeance failed to do what the Far Cry games were famous and great for doing, it doesn't mean that hope should fall and that there should never be another Far Cry game around, especially on the Wii.

It is true that most of the first-person shooters, now out on the Wii, are bad, but Call of Duty 3 is not and there's going to be a great Medal of Honor game that might do better in terms of graphics and gameplay as by how it looks to be. It is coming out for both the Wii and PS2.

My point is that even though Far Cry Vengeance was a bad game, Crytek or even another developer can try to see what made the game wrong and put a great amount of focus on the gameplay and graphics for the next game, so that it will not be another huge dissapointment.

Look at Tomb Raider. It looked as if Angel of Darkness has failed the franchise and that there wasn't going to be any other Tomb Raider games after that, but Crystal Dynamics took the Tomb Raider franchise and brought it back to its roots and main focus, allowing for Tomb Raider Legends to make the franchise once again strong and ready to live on.

If Crystal Dynamics can do that for Tomb Raider, I sure do believe that the developer who now owns Far Cry can do that for the next Far Cry game.

Question:
Would you like to see another Far Cry game on the Nintendo Wii?

Choices:
Yes
No

Why hasn't anyone considered to do a single post in this thread? Is it really that bad of a topic to get across? Perhaps I should make another one and this time have it be a wishlist for another Far Cry game on the Wii.

The better game developers work, the harder that I will put any effort into my games.

Why don't more people reply to this thread. Looks like it's just me and the thread poster who've voted. Is Ubisoft paying any attention?

Thanks, maverick_hawke. I appreciate what you did to help out the thread. I just hope that someone else will reply to it. Maybe, now that the thread has more than one person who replied to it, it has a better chance of doing good.

Based on years of playing every FarCry game, these are my thoughts on FC: Vengeance:

Graphics: Without a great graphics card, the Wii does not live up to farcry's "lush tropics" and "amazing scenery".

Online Play: There is no online play. Not like all the other Farcry games. In short, there should not be another FarCry for the Wii.

Map Editor: Many people were sad to find out that the great part about the FarCry games is not included...a map editor. Since there is no online play there would be no point for a map editor anyway.

Story: The game starts out with you unaware how Jack even has his powers. With the same character killing the same people, the repitition of the story starts to ware out.

Wii Remote: All FPS for the Wii are hard to play with the aiming of the wireless controller and weird controls. Not every FarCry player is used to the "to slice move the remote down in a fast motion". Running and jump was a bit annoying too.

I am sorry if there are those that like the game but these are all points that every other Farcry was better in. In short, there should not be another FarCry game for the Wii.

I fully disagree! I can't talk very much for the Wii version of Far Cry, but the PC version and many other games offer an editor with all the necessary tools to make excellent single player (SP) maps. The Matto series of maps and mods for Far Cry (PC) is the most eloquent demonstration of this.

On the other hand, it is a shame that modders and map makers keep on making just MP maps. The editor and SDK is far from being used to it's full potential. IMHO, MP frag fest is not where Far Cry could really shine. Masses of cool SP objective based missions should have been done for Far Cry.

Raven Shield was another game that offered many SP game modes, yet, only 10% of the maps contained SP modes. With Far Cry, it's even worse, with 0.2% of the maps being SP. What a waste of opportunity to make the most of the game!

I suppose you're right and now that Crytek is done with Far Cry and has moved onto Crysis, I hope that we have Far Cry end as a franchise. Maybe one more game wouldn't be a bad idea. Although, if there was to be another Far Cry game, I'd hope that it would not only come out for the Wii, but also for the PS3, 360, and PC because there is a lot that you can find big about having to work on 3 or 4 platforms and that would make a last Far Cry game probably worth more than any of its predecessors. If all goes well, I sure hope that we see Far Cry 2 for all 7th generation consoles and even for the PC.

Game ratings for each FarCry game:

1.FarCry- 9.2
2.FarCry Instincts-9.2
3.FarCry Instincts: Evolution-8.0
4.FarCry Instincts: Predator-7.9
5.FarCry Vengeance-5.5

You can see a very bad pattern forming...If they want to end the farcry series with another game, it better be a kick-ass one.

I definitely hope to high heaven another Far Cry is made for the Wii. I've loved the franchise from the start and don't see why it shouldn't be kept alive. And I don't think there is a platform out there that isn't deserving of it.

As far as the Wii-specific version goes, I enjoyed it, but it definitely feels as though it was rushed or the devs got lazy with it. The graphics, for some odd reason, took a big hit. I absolutely have no idea why! I'm not really a big stickler on graphics and I think Vengeance was playable, BUT, the Cube pulled off the REmake, RE4, and Zelda Twilight Princess no problem. Red Steel has decent enough graphics. I just don't get what happened with Far Cry. I understand most of the Wii launch games were created based off of the Cubes specs, but it can do better than that.

Secondly, the AI. The AI was slightly retarded. I found that playing on a higher difficulty improved this somewhat. Although, sometimes the enemies still payed no attention as I wasted thier comrades 3 feet away. That needs afixin!

As far as control goes, my only complaint was with sniping and zooming with a weapon. This could've been mapped to the "1" button and the objectives list put on the "pause" menu. Simple enough. Other than that, the controls were spot on. I think alot of the way an FPS controls on the Wii has to do with the person playing. Red Steel took me a few stages to get the hang of, but a friend of mine was wasting dudes left and right as soon as he picked it up.

Online would've been nice, but meh, i can live without it for Far Cry.

Map Editor is no big deal to me. If its there, i'll use it. If not, big whoop!

Don't get me wrong, Vengeance has its problems, but i still think it's fun as hell to play. Oddly enough, of the 3 FPS's out right now for Wii(Elebits excluded), I find myself playing Vengeance the most. They just need to fix what was wrong here and put forth a little more effort.

Thanks and sorry for the lengthy post.

On another note, apparently Wii is getting two MOH games this year. First will be Vanguard. And later this year, Wii still gets a version of Airborne.

Maybe after the Wii has had more time on seeing good games form in each genre that is found, especially the FPS genre, I think that it's possible to see another FC game.

I just bought the game last night. I was so disappointed with the initial cut scenes that I was ready to take the game back and DEMAND a refund.

I decided to wait for game play; I was unimpressed with the responsiveness. Then I noticed that you can tweak the sensitivity; much better!

I still think the game has its flaws, but I have found it to be a "Fun" game. I picked it up in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart (a Wii title already in bargain bin did prepare me for something being 'wrong')but it was only $19.87.

I don't think it's worth $49.98, but as a bargain title, it's a lot of fun.
