Oh my God, how pale are you?! Blink

I think there were some guys from next door who clambered onto the kind of "some-central-heating-machinery or something" shed we have to catch some rays. There was a ladder propped there and some voices seemingly coming from nowhere anyway...

Have you read/seen Brighton Rock? That's what I thought of when I saw the title

Greatest beach I've ever been to is Mullaghmore - it's this gorgeous little place with the whitest sand I've ever seen that isn't a tourist trap... mainly because it belonged to Lord Mountbatten (I think) and is, as far as I know, protected or something in a sort of heritage-y way

I love that place

I wonder if America's Brighton Beach (sp?) is named after yours...

I think there was a Neil Simon movie in the '80's named "Brighton Beach Memoirs".

You've only just noticed!? Big Grin Although I prefer the term "English Rose"... Well, that's how my mum describes it, so I'm sticking with it!

And yep, have read/seen Brighton Rock. Well spotted!

Wow, you do have some nice beaches in the UK.

We have some nice beaches out here in Hawaii as well. Wish I had some pictures up.

The only reason I commented was I don't think I've ever seen anyone that, well, white! Is it quite common in England? (I feel like going on about it might be like going "Nyah nyah look at the milky people!" or something)

Out here on Maui, it is sunny and hot. There is no wind and lots of haze because there is no wind to push it out to sea.

Yes. Yes, it is. White skin and rosey cheeks, from what I saw. The same thing is typical of Northerners, here in the U.S.

Look like that beach is all small rocks instead of sand. It's way too sunny and hot right now where I am. Over the weekend, I went river kayaking with friends and am paranoid about sun, so had the sunscreen and two layers of high SPF level shirts.

And here's proof that Englanders do go a bit mental when the sun comes out, straight from JynxyJo...

(Narnia reference. Timely given the upcoming movie.)

What's so mental about running about in the sun? It's great! Just got to watch for cow pats and stuff... Indifferent

Oh, I do miss living in the country

That's a shingle beach. River kayaking... Is there a difference between that and canoeing? Haven't done that in AGES!

Wikipedia says that...
"Kayaking is generally differentiated from canoeing by the fact that a kayak has a closed cockpit and a canoe has an open cockpit"

Learn something new everyday.. actually one of my friends does kayaking at her Univeristy in Newport, so i should have really know that.. hmm

Oh, really? I guess I was kayaking all those years... Indifferent

Although I have done canoeing as well. And let me tell you, when you're sat at the front (prow, I suppose) of one half of a catamaran canoe, you end up with really sore knees!

This is what a catamaran canoe looks like

Brighton looks lovely! Never been before but I'm hoping it's sunny around the 29th as I'll be off there volunteering for Develop in Brighton. Are any Frag Dolls going?

Kayak is also one of those words that spells itself backwards.

Try THAT with a Canoe!
