I'm new to Chessmaster and new to this forum. I've searched the forum for this but come up empty.

I'm about to begin a game and would like to have hints along the way. How does this work? I've checked off the Coach's Hints but nothing pops up to suggest what I should do. What am I missing here?

I want to be able to have move analysis throughout the game.

If you have all the move boxes checked in the chess coach, then you should see different colored arrows on the board indicating the different moves you can make.

You can use 'Quick Hint' from the Mentor menu, and it will suggest a move by highlighting a position on the board.

You can so select 'Advice' from the Mentor menu. Select a number of seconds to think, and then you'll get Natural Language Advice -- Chessmaster will suggest a move and explain why...

Thanks for the answers. My problem was that I kept trying to do it in Setup, rather than Training mode. Not sure what Setup is for yet but Training is just what I need.

'Set Up Game' is for arranging the pieces in a certain way, like if you're playing a puzzle or playing at odds (for example, you're giving someone an advantage by playing without a Rook or a Pawn).
