Like you see here, drawning order is set backwards. so the pawns in the back seem to stand before other figures. Anyone knows how to fix this problem ?
You play as white and Chessmaster is playing as black, but the user is always at the bottom. You circumvented that by rotating the board for 180 degrees. Thats why you see what you see.
I have the same problem. I run chessmaster 9000 with windows vista, i have a GeForce 8600M GS graphic card and I have all the patches for Chessmaster 9000 and the latest drivers for my video card...and rotating the board doesn't work... nor flipping it... I don't know what to do.
yes I have tried to run it in every compatibility mode there is and it still has the same problem. The game was fine until 1 month ago and then one day it started these problems in 3d mode. i believe it is some kind of incompatibility with the windows updates because i have set the updates to download and install automaticaly and this is the only installation on my pc during this period. i have also tried to change the settings on my graphics card but i am afraid of doing more damage than good... the fact is that with the same settings a month ago the game was fine. i even uninstalled the game and re-installed it two times but the problem persists.
Well, if it's a problem with updates, then chances are you installed an incompatible video driver; un-installing and re-installing Chessmaster isn't going to help.
Here's what I would recommend: Use System Restore to restore your system settings to when Chessmaster worked. This won't change your data, but then you will have to re-install some of your Windows updates again (just not the graphics drivers).
the game plays fine, the only problem is the 3d graphics. i tried to return to the previous drivers with the system restore but it didn't work. for the moment i am playing in 2d mode.
I'm unable to get the game to play on Vista. It worked on my old computer with Windows XP.
I installed it several times and when I try to play it says it cant find Chessmaster.exe. I installed one of the patches and it says it can't find Chessmaster.exe
The default Vista installation location seems kind or weird, somewhere in C:..users\app data\roaming or something. So I tried making a more simple folder to put it in, C:\Chessmaster. But it still didn't work and I couldn't find a Chessmaster.exe file in there.
I don't think Chessmaster 9000 works on Vista anymore.
Thats odd. The default installation folder should be C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster 9000 and Chessmaster 9000 also creates a folder in your User (where your documents are) folder too. I somehow doubt Vista let you install something in a hidden system folder. It does create that folder you mentioned yes, but the game is not installed there.
If files are missing then the game didn't install properly, or you are looking in the wrong places. Remember that you have to run the installation as admninistrator. Right-click on Setup.exe on your CD and select "Run as Administrator..."
You may be right that it won't work on Vista. I reinstalled as an administrator and it didn't work. When I try press the button to play the game it says it can't find the file Chessmaster.exe.
There is a folder at C:\Program files\ubisoft\chessmaster but it only contains an uninstall file called CM9kunist.isu.
So I think Vista installs it in some weird location. When I had a similar problem with installing the old Baldur's GateII game, I got around it by specifying to install it in folder right after C:\ Otherwise the files got installed in multiple locations including User\Name\appdata etc.
