I installed CM10K in my computer. The first time I've opened the program the introduction movie appeared, then I was asked to enter my player, and to choose an avatar. Then, where i believe the game menu should appear, a black image was displayed.

Do anyone have this problem before???

My computer has the minimum requirements.

I'm having the same problem.

I have 2 laptops. In one the game works fine, but in the other the game just shows a black screen and CPU is almost in 100% with the game.exe process.

I also have the minimum requeriments. I'm using Windows XP, Directx 9.0c and my graphic card is S3 Graphics SavageIX.

I removed the intro movie as noticed in the support page but nothing....can anyone help me?

I tried the demo on my girlfriend's pc, (also an S3 chipset) with 2D only checked and either DX or OpenGL, but it shows the black screen mentioned above, so it's not a 3D only problem.
I think its the S3 chipset being unsupported by the game.

I had similar behaviour to this after trying to copy my user from CM9000 CMX. It was fixed when I returned things back to normal. You might want to check under the .../data/Users directory. Maybe if move your user directory elsewhere, it will create a new one for you.

Did the user with the S3 Graphics SavageIX chipset ever get a solution to his CM10 problem?

If so, what is it?

You can try to make the game work by checking the following requirements:
- get the latest drivers
- set up the screen at 800*600, 16 bit color depth
- launch the Game Settings program and check OpenGL instead of DirectX, also check "Only 2D Chess sets"
- install the 1.0.2. patch

anyone found a solution to this? I have the same issue, thinkpad t22 (Savage video card), XP SP2, DirectX 9c.

Tried everything I can think of.

Chessmaster was tested on other 8MB video cards and it works fine. Perhaps it's an S3 specific problem... We'll look into it.

Sorry to bumb such an old topic, but i was wondering if there is a fix for this problem. Im having the black screen problem om my laptop with savage videocard aswell, while i would love to play some CM10 in the garden

If you did all that and it's still not working, then I don't think it is going to.
