I have searched the forum but cannot find the answer to this question: Is there a way to reset the player stats or delete them so as to start from scratch?

Mine are all fouled up because I have used the Training Room for end-game analysis vs. the AI, games from set positions vs. the AI, etc.

I don't think you can reset the stats but you can create another username and start from scratch.
