GameKeeper proxy engine copied into CM9 folder and renamed TheKing.exe.The native engine TheKing.exe renamed RealEngine.
DGT board connected and active.Activate gamekeeper which says-"ready for another game" I make my white move but CM 9 wont reply. The same thing trying to play from the computer on screen.CM9 will not make a move even pressing wake-up & move now. Any Ideas what I am doing wrong? |

Thank you for your comments. Gamekeeper is software developped to allow the DGT board to interface with Chessmaster 9 & 10. Gamekeeper instructions are copy the proxy engine into the CM folder and name TheKing.exe and rename TheKing.exe - RealEngine. I know this works because others have done it. But as I said My CM9 wont reply to a white input move. Yes if I rename the native engine to TheKing.exe CM9 operates correctly. Once again thank you for your comments.... |

The solution to the problem is quite simple. I know it's an old question but I figured I'd put it here for future reference.
The mistake you made was that you probably renamed the "ProxyEngine.exe" as supplied in the GameKeeper package to "TheKing.exe". Even though this is essentially correct, GK wants it to simply be called "TheKing". It will figure out itself that it's an application. Simply remove the ".exe" and it will work like a charm. So fixing the DGT "tutorial" and highlighting the stuff that actually matters: Rename "TheKing.exe" in your original installation folder to "RealEngine". Copy "ProxyEngine.exe" from the GameKeeper folder into you CM installation folder and rename it to "TheKing". Restart ChessMaster if it was running. Go into preferences --> notation and chose "Algabraic". Start a game in any mode (except position set-up) and check task manager to see if Chessmaster.exe, TheKing.exe and RealEngine.exe are running. This should be the case. Close ChessMaster again. Launch GameKeeper. It should very easily find your DGT board (and clock). This part is practically idiot proof. Very important!!! Make sure the name in the name box is IDENTICAL (including cases) to the window name of the application you are running! (i.e. Chessmaster 9000 (default) or Chessmaster 10th Edition). Select the "DGT dll" settings button and make sure the "auto rotation" option is ticked. Also use a move delay of about 2000 ms or slower. This sounds extreme but ChessMaster tends to screw up less often. Screwing up means "inventing" moves you didn't play because you hovered a pawn to close to a square it could legally be played to. Start Chessmaster again and everything should work fine now. If I discover anything else that could possibly "harm" the functioning of a DGT board with CM, I will post it here later. |
