Alright, I just downloaded and played the demo for COD4. Yes, it is completely unrealistic, it is completely linear, and is completely ridiculous. But you know, it looked like they did a lot of work to at least give you the feel of a realistic setting even though the gameplay is not realistic. It is very fast pace and is pretty entertaining if you don't let all the unrealistic **** bother you. I guess if you're looking for a run and gun game, this one is not a bad one to try since at least the weapons and the setting are realistic even if the gameplay isn't. I just hate when you're shooting some futuristic ray gun or some **** like that. In this game, I got to use a M16, a G3, and even a javelin.

The only thing I REALLY hate about the game are the gun sounds. The gunfire in the game is REALLY soft, it's like everyone in the game has sound suppressors or they are shooting some weird future pulse weapons or something. Even though a M16 shoots glorified .22's, it is still enough powder behind it to sound pretty mean when you shoot it, and the AK47's have a pretty distinct sound that I think this game completely lacks. I think they wanted so that you can hear the commands while you're playing, but I much rather them do that in some other method, like where your commander would wave you to come close, and when you do, he'll yell in your ear what he wants you to do. That would be pretty cool.
