OH... MY... GAWD...
Ok, now that is out of the way, I just came from watching Iron Man, and you all know I went into it with high expectations so if it didn't meet those expectations I probably would be here complaining about it right now... Well, I'm glad to report that it WELL EXCEEDED my expectations. It wasn't like a whole lot of senseless action every second, most of the movie was devoted to the backstory and character development of all of the major characters, but when there was an action scene, HOLY MOLY. Trust me, you will not be let down. But word to the wise, when the movie is over, DO NOT WALK OUT! Wait for the end of the credits. *wink* They also played a lot of good trailers before it. First it was The Dark Knight, then The Incredible Hulk, then Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Home run right there. This will be a good year for comic book movies. BTW, when you see the end of the credits of Iron Man, you will see that all of the Marvel movies will be tied in the same universe from now on... *hint* Anyway, the film had lots of laughs but it wasn't "goofy" or corny, a lot of the humor seems to come naturally given RDJ's character and the effort to perfect his suit of armor. Acting in the movie was top-notch, Robert Downey Jr. is at the top of his game, Gwyneth Paltrow is... well, she's Gwyneth... and Terrance Howard, well, I'd like to see more of him, and he made several references in the movie to confirm that in the sequels, we definitely will be... (another hint). And for those of you who enjoy the experience as well as the movie (meaning audience reaction) you'd get plenty in here. More than just a few times, everyone in the audience broke out in applause and cheering because Iron Man/Tony Stark's actions in this movie are simply bad-ass. When he puts on that suit, he whoops some major butt. That is a big understatement actually... And he does it with style too, he drops in with a grand entrance, takes out ALL of the bad guys with minimal effort, then flies away to do the same to the next group. He got fighting bad guys down to an art. I guess they don't call him The Invincible Iron Man for nothing... But this kind of thing can backfire. Some movies try the whole one man army bad-ass thing and it just makes you resent that person because you can't really relate to it. But in this movie's case, he had means of accomplishing these things that you can assume that given the same equipment you can do the same. Not to mention, so much time and careful effort was made to build on his human character that you can't help but relate to him. So in this movie's case, when he's out mopping the floor with the baddies, it just fills you with so much hooah energy that you can't help but cheer him on. Man, I can't wait to watch it again, and I can't wait for the sequels. Do yourselves a favor, everyone, go out and watch this movie as soon as possible. It definitely spanks the likes of Spiderman, and I will go out on a limb to say that I enjoyed it even more than Batman Begins. ______________________________________________ "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke "It's better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for who you're not." - Anonymous "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is." - William J. I am pretty pissed. I want to see this movie so bad. All my friends are going to see it in the city (there are no movie theaters out here) and I am stuck here in my town because I am on duty for the fire department. I will have to wait two more weeks. At least I know now that the wait will be worth it.

That sucks Rage, but it will definitely be worth it when you finally get to see it!
I think they did it right without trying to do too much in the movie (Spiderman 3) and made it a character driven story instead of just lots of explosions, but that being said, don't worry, there are still explosions |
