Well I'm Canadian, but I'd much rather have Obama as our neighbour's president than McCain.

And I'm already seeing way too many McCain-isms, yet haven't seen a single Obama one

lol, you make a valid point

I frequent digg.com a lot, where 90% of its members are pro-Obama, so I see a lot of McCain bashing. Any anti-Obama articles don't make it to the front page.

I may be biased in that sense, but I'd rather have a young charismatic leader than some old guy who looks like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

Here are a couple of Obamaisms for you.

I'm definitely not voting for Obama, since I guess I prefer substance over charisma. I find it interesting that there is so much of the "the administration" blame game going on here. Ummm...people...there are 3 branches of the government in the US, and guess what...The Executive Branch (which is "the administration") is responsible for enforcing the laws, they are NOT responsible for making or interpreting them. Guess who is responsible for making the laws. The Legislative Branch. Its strange that everbody has forgotten that the Democrats took majority rule in both the Senate and House about 18 months ago, on teary-eyed promises of "change", and here we are...the economy is worse than its ever been. Food prices have skyrocketed due to a mandate to devote so much of our food crop to E85 production, a fuel which requires more energy to process (processing done mostly with fossil fuel-powered equipment BTW) than it is capable of returning, and is consumed at roughly twice the rate of gasoline in many cases in the same engine. Now those same idiots are proposing a plan to increase taxes on the profits of the oil companies?! What do they think the oil companies are going to do? Be happy with making less money? Hell no! They'll end up transferring those extra expenses to the consumer...that's you and me boys and girls. How about this? Perhaps those in Congress who are "so concerned" about environmental issues can actually start trying to lead by example? They can all move themselves into a single, modest home much like the rest of the US lives in, as opposed to multiple homes that consume MUCH MORE energy than any family needs. Then, they can embrace the technology of the 21st century and start telecommuting to do their jobs. Does a Congressman or Senator really need to burn 20,000 gallons of petroleum-based jet fuel several times a month just to go to a fancy, white building in DC to vote on a bill that very few of them even read anyway? Let's see the Democrats actually start backing their BS up with actions, then I'll think about voting for one in the distant future. Veryhappy

While we're talking about Ethanol, apparently E85 is responsible for only 3% of the rising food costs:

http://gas2.org/2008/05/22/usda-says-ethanol-accounts-f...reased-cost-of-food/

I have mixed feelings about E85: I find it completely senseless to create it from food products, as technology is improving to gather it from waste products.

And although it burns much more intensely, it increases the power output of engines, and reduces emissions because it burns much more efficiently. In fact, Saab created a concept that ran on E100 with an additional electric motor that created zero fossil CO2 emissions (Here)

I would love to see the development of these cars if they only the fuel they used wasn't managed so poorly

I'm sorry, Gopher, but ANY engine that runs by internal combustion is going to have CO2 emissions. The two constants in combustion, as far as by-products go, are ALWAYS CO2 and H2O. So any report of a combustion engine that creates zero CO2 emissions is a bogus report...it is a physical impossibility. Wink

I have never understood why everyone hopped on Ethanol as the solution to our gas problems. And this comes from a guy who has lived all of his life in Iowa until recently.

I've been waiting for the whole E85 fad to implode, and it looks like we're close. Especially after this spring. A friend of the family already has 300 acres underwater, and it just keeps on raining, the flooding is already worse than in 1993 when we had a 100 year flood.

Secondly, Bush is no more responsible for the war than any of the other house/senate members that you voted to their positions. If you think that the President can solely make those decisions, you should move to N. Korea where the president actually has that power.
Can anyone one say on 9/12 or 9/13 that they didn't want pay-back?
The threat of WMDs in Iraq combined w/ Nato and the UNs passive enforcements against those weapons was plenty reason to flatten that place as well.
Status quoe is what exactly? Rising oil prices, dying Americans? That still is a small small price to pay to lessen that threat. If it means we're there 'till the end of time, so be it. There are many of us who will fight for our ways of life, even if that means dying in some desert thousands of miles away.
Another tid-bit for you, every soldier volunteered for service, each made the decision themselves. Each is 1000 times the patriot the tree hugging liberals are. I won't vote for obama/clinton, you want world chaos, there you have it. Why? Only one of those two can put their hand on the Bible and swear to protect us. Only one will pledge allegiance to our flag, constitution and citizens. One has only second hand experience with governing/government.

McCain may not be the best person for the job. He is definately the best option we have this time around.

I dont think it really matters who wins, what the country needs is sensible campaign finance reform and a viable 3rd party. The Democrats and Republicans, other than surface "morality issues," are virtually the same. Both are out of touch with the common American and his needs, both are there simply to hang on to power and both have their hands in the pockets of various lobby and special interest groups. Ron Paul has many good ideas, some not so good (like going back to the gold standard).

LMAO, yah, leave it to a Europee-on to vote for someone with no experience, who changes his mind on topics every 18.5 minutes, who thinks we have 57 states, and has absolutely no plan on the so-called "energy crisis."

Oh well, I'm glad I'm here where the gas is like $3.73 down the street, much better than paying the equal of $10+ per gallon like in Europe...

Yah, and you are complaining about $4 gas, lmao!

Well...luckily for us in the United States, non-US citizens aren't allowed to vote. So, your gamble with Monopoly Money...much like the polls...doesn't have any real consequences for you or anybody else. Either that or we in Colorado are having the hottest November on record, and I missed election day.

Your "sensible electric cars" concept will create TONS of toxic waste every year that will dwarf what we are seeing now. Electric cars, and hybrids, in their current incarnation, are a FRAUD. Save the planet from certain destruction? This brings a good quote to mind. "Where is the planet going? The planet's not going anywhere, it is us who are leaving. Yes...we're going away. When the time comes, the Earth is going to shake us off like a bad case of fleas." Veryhappy

Hey Demon_mustang

OK ill give it to you that you pay less for your gas than us poor people in europe who get shafted all the time....But come on there are only 57 states! everyone knows that....yes i did say ATVs? Everyone in Amairica drives those big Hummers - I saw it on tv. Wink2

IguanaKing - are you sure that electric cars create toxic waste coz when i saw that tv advert they said they were non-toxic to the enviroment?!?
But then again i know as much about electric cars as i do that obama bloke Googly

ColCorpse, I hope you are using sarcasm about everyone driving big hummers. The last time I saw a hummer on the road was a few weeks ago.

I've seen more compact cars on the road than ever. Dealers can't push SU...ahem..."ATVs" off their lots at all. People are thinking smarter about fuel. The only people that I see with big cars are the people who need them, like farmers, landscapers and utility workers. Even on my fire department, instead of taking both of our engines and our ladder truck to trainings, we only take one engine. When responding to calls, we only send one truck to investigate the scene first. The rest standby at the station until they are needed so we don't waste gas. Tomorrow morning my co-worker will be picking me up so we can go to work together. We are saving gas by taking one car, rather than two. So don't tell me that because I am an American, I own a huge car and I just waste gas left and right, because it is not true.

I don't drive a Hummer, heck I do not even own a vehicle unless you count my 2 feet and I am an American so I know that Corpse is wrong.

I drive a truck, but I guess a car wouldn't be too good at hauling large car parts like engine blocks and things like that, lol.
